In the 1st period I was thinking that Quick might have found the "beast mode" switch again and turned it on, then the rest of the team craps the bed in the 3rd period.

Aw well, good game from Quick. I think Sutter needs to reconsider the defense pairings and get Muzzin back with Doughty.

You know he wants Regehr & Doughty to be a regular thing (we all do!), but Muzzin & Ellerby is not a good tandem.

When Greene returns we'll probably see Muzzin & Greene or Martinez & Greene.

He's been solid for several games now. I think he did flip the switch last night but eventually turned it off when he realized the rest of the team decided to mail it in.

While I normally bristle at excuses, look back at the schedule. This was the FOURTH time Dallas has gotten the Kings on night 4 of a 3 game in 4 night stretch.

Every game Dallas has played the Kings this season so far has been the 3rd game of a 3 in 4 night stretch, and is a big reason Dallas has a winning record against the Kings. Dallas must have bribed the scheduler.

The 5th and final game, the Kings will have 2 days rest and the Stars will have 1 day rest before playing. We'll see how that one turns out.

Considering their record against the rest of the NHL, they may want to up their bribe :sarcasm:

LA has 3 more wins than Dallas plus Dallas has a game in hand. So perhaps the Kings should throw some bribes their way also.

I am with you in this. The Kings are easily the better team. I hope that there isn't anyone here that would fear the Dallas Stars in a 7-game series against the Kings.

It was good to see Quick on top of his game in the 1st period. It would be nice to see him steal a game before the regular season ends just to boost his confidence a little bit more.

Yeah, but it's not working right now. I think Sutter is just going to have to accept the idea that Doughty may have to be one of the 3 shutdown defensemen in the playoffs this season. I hope Greene is 100% when he gets back into the lineup, but that's asking a lot. Maybe Muzzin and Greene on the bottom pairing will work though. It would be huge for the Kings if it does.

I was telling myself after the 1st period, "the Kings are lucky not to be down 5-1 right now". How little did I know.....

Hope this was just fatigue...because even though the teams immediately around us helped out last night, there are some hot teams, notably St. Louis, that are close to booting us from home ice.

I really hope this isn't a repeat of last season where we bomb the last week of the season and end up a low seed...or do I :sarcasm:

The Kings have been playing consistently well. You can't expect them to not lay an egg every once in a while, they wouldn't be human. They played a real strong game on Sunday, second night of a back-to-back, on the road and came back three times against a very good team. After that effort, they fell flat. Big deal. I bet they come back very strong Thursday.

The biggest thing I took away from this game was the guy between the pipes looking suspiciously like last year's version. Despite giving up five I did not think any of them were on him and it would have been a lot worse if not for Quick.

If he strings some games like that together, look out NHL.

So, so true. This was the first game since our early season troubles that looked...off. Even most of our losses we've been playing insanely well. I think that's why I'm not upset...I don't think it's coming unglued, I think it was just that yearly ass-kicking every team gets that makes them angry. And how timely. Thanks, Dallas

Also, Robyn Regehr has come in and immediately taken ownership of all things Kings, particularly mistakes. Love it. Fits right in. He's got some hunger, too...hope that pays dividends!

The good thing about this loss is that Sutter is probably going nuclear at practice today.

I don't think Penner is going to play again for a while. We also probably won't see Richardson for a few games either

Hopefully. That was pathetic. I didn't think this team had that type of performance in them.

On the bright side, even after giving up 5 goals, Quick looked great and that's very promising. He's slowly getting back into his usual form. He needs to start next game.

Another thing I've been thinking about: do you think the revolving door, so to speak, is somewhat a good thing? I mean, don't get me wrong, we obviously need a legitimate Top-Six LW, but this light's a fire under the ass of anyone playing that position. Specifically Penner come playoff time.

The point I was replying to was the tongue-in-cheek comment about the Stars bribing the scheduler when it comes to games against us. Against us, Dallas is 3-1.

If you remove the Dallas V LA games, our record is 21-11-4 (46 points), while Dallas would be 16-16-3 (35 points)

So yeah, Dallas may need to break out that wallet a ******** more than us.

I would love an L.A.-StL first round matchup. Don't care if we are the 4th or 5th seed.

I wouldn't. The blues are playing a lot better now, and they are geared to play the kings. Second or 3rd round is where I'd like to see them after they've been beaten up a little. That is IF we don't perform as poorly as we did last night.

Holy **** thank god Greene is close. We finally get to sit muzzin and lolerby. Put Martinez and Greene back amen.

Plus, never underestimate how pissed off those guys are at us!

I don't care if the Blues are playing hot lately. They beat Nashville, Detroit, Columbus, and Minnesota. They haven't played LA during their streak.

LA owns the Blues.

Tell me was Doughty diving? He was called for it and there wasn't any replay so I couldn't tell.

Reactions on ice seemed to disagree with the call.

Edit. Watched the Dallas feed as the Kings feed was blackouted..

It wasn't for diving, it was for chirping [unsportsmanlike conduct] at the refs for the blatant interference call they missed. Doughty was on the bench when he got called for it, and the Dallas PA announcer thought it would be real funny and called it diving.

Thank You Sir.
I had to watch that again but the announcers did a heck of a job to get it wrong.
