Home vs road makes a big difference in his case since he is not really NHL ready.
You keep saying this but every single game he is away from goodrow and the other useless offensive and defensive players on the bottom 6 he puts up 2 points.

smith has now passed carlsson in points on the season. man, really thought carlsson and fantilli would adapt to the NHL faster than this.
And 2 points away from fantilli with 6 less games.
So according to some here carlsson and fantilli must not be nhl ready yet either and they are in year 2.

Um.. Haven't you heard about a sophomore slump? Keeping that in mind, the discussion we've had regarding Smith this year is nothing. NOTHING! He gon' be slumpin' next year real hard, and it's going to take a minimum of 20 games next year for him to get his first.. IN THE AHL!

Probably when they dominated the majority of the second period. Garbagiev has one job on the ice and that’s to stop pucks. The Eichel goal was bad luck the other goal went through his 7 hole which should never happen that’s not from a bad back check that’s from piss poor form from your goaltender. That’s every game with him pucks are going through him and just by him because his mechanics are trash

Aside from that terrible 5 minutes I was genuinely shocked at how good we looked against Vegas missing two of our top players. I think it’s maddening because it sometimes feels like we’re so close and then at the last moment lose it all.
I think some of it is definitely mental and some of it is very large gaps throughout the lineup of higher end players. Either way, I was actually very impressed.
-Don’t separate Smith and Celebrini. They become wizards together, it’s really a joy to watch. It’s such a joy that it actually makes me wonder if we really do need to find a 2C in this draft (or wherever) to let that magic develop. It’s Sedin-ish sometimes, and they’ve barely even played together.
-Muhk’s best game. Really great to see.
-Georgiev has a truly terrible glove hand.
-Kovalenko is fun to watch, I really like him as a middle-six guy for us.
Overall, almost a great game.

I was hoping he wouldn’t be this bad but he looks like a guy who has lost all of his confidence. He looks a bit like Martin Jones did when he fell apart, it’s like every time the puck comes at him he’s thinking nonononono here we go oh god here we go
I disagree with your assertion about Grier. I think Colorado said if you want a 2nd AND Kovalenko you have to take Georgiev and Grier figured okay maybe Vanacek can be the #1 and our very good goalie coach can fix Georgiev enough to where we can either trade him or he can be a manageable backup for Askarov.
Vanacek got injured and Askarov has played 2 of the last 3 games , so I think Asky is on his way to taking over (at least until Vanacek is back and then we’ll see). I think Grier is always looking to create tradeable assets.
But yeah, Georgiev is bad.

I 100% agree. But when you give up two SH goals on the same power play, the lion's share of the blame has got to go to the idiots who let the Vegas forwards get behind the team twice.

There's no way the deal happens at all without Georgiev coming back. Colorado wasn't going to keep 3 goalies. Kovalenko was the price extracted for taking him off Colorado's cap.
Gorge-iev is worse than I expected. I know he was bad, but even his relatively routine stops look exciting. I am sure Grier knew he would be bad, but hoped hed be good enough to flip at the deadline for something. He was never in the long term plans. Sadly, his value is absolute zero, so it will end up a cap dump and nothing else.
No way COL would keep him of course, and the deal was a work of art for them. They now have their #1 G for the next half decade for a 2nd 2 years fro ma now and a guy who was a 4th liner for them. That's mastery.
For us, we got what we could. Hopefully they can figure out how to get good value from Kovy. He has lost some of his early mojo and the sharks do not nee yet another 3/4th liner to go along with grund, dyll, goodie, and the rest of the shlubs. They need impact forwards who can score, so I hope Kovy can be one...
At this point, the tank is being executed perfectly. Taking vegas toe to toe thru two periods sans your #1 D and your second leading scorer is pretty good. They do need to win sometimes, but the fact that every L is a nail biter is perfection.
Also, I wanna see graf back in the NHL. Last year, straight from college, he was not ready. But, hes a year older, has shown he can play well against men, and has earned a real look.
Going into this coming summer, which is a HUGE one for the sharks, they need to know what they have in the minors. They need to see if Graf can become a regular top 9F. They need to see if bordy, gush, or cardwell can be NHLers. They need to know if Bystedt and cagnoni can play against the big boys.
We know Askarov appears ready, but the rest of the cuda remain a bit opaque.
Going into next year, the sharks have only 8 NHL forwards signed. Kovy and zetterlund, if extended, would make 10. Obviously they could end up resigning kunin, kostin, granlund or others, but most likely not at this point.
that means they need at least 4 more forwards. No doubt kids will be at least 2 of those spots, so it would be nice to be able to somewhat pencil them in based on a 20-30 game NHL preview, or to know they arent pencil in-able and that you have to shop around more.

Kovalenko has two things going for him that elevate him above our other grinders. He's young and he's a good passer. Not that I'd necessarily advocate for keeping Kunin (Sharks should trade as many of their UFA's that will bring back value as possible) , but Kovalenko-Wennberg-Kunin would be a pretty decent third line going forward.

I think Graf, Bystedt, and Cagnoni will get their shot sometime after March 7 when we move some of our excess parts out for picks, but not before. Short of an impressive showing as an IR replacement, Bordeleau and Gushchin are on their way out of the Sharks system to be replaced by Musty and Halttunen.
It really depends on where the Cuda are. AHL playoffs start April 23rd and our last game is April 18th i believe.

I would think we'll send whoever comes up back for the playoffs. Barracuda aren't gonna fall out if they have to do without a couple of guys for a while at the end of the year.

I think he's doing better than I expected. I didn't expect him to be able to hold his own for a little, but it's like he deliberately loses the games for his teams towards the end. End-game Jones had a similar feel but this stuff is extremely entertaining to watch.
What I don't understand is how the Avs were still even winning games with guys like him and Grubauer in net.
Grubauer was a much better goalie back then. Once the book is out on your weaknesses you’re toast.
Jones didn’t wait til the end of games to demoralize his team. He would usually give up a goal in the first minute to do that.
