Suzuki and Caufield are playing meaningful hockey.
They need more from some of the others.
HuGo Pezz is in but Marty is double shifting others in his spot and we are on a B2B.
Well f*** me if that isn't a clear message.

Oh I believe in Slaf, I like the player.

I’ve been a huge advocate of his this season despite his struggles, and I’ve said many times I wish MSL would start deploying him on the PK so he has to constantly be on the ice and active. That would help his tempo, IMO.
I like the principle, but what would be the impact of our Slaf PK line getting caved in night after night?

You better be getting two big skilled players back.

And they’re not easy to find.
I don't see what skill you're seeing that would make them hard to replace. They're not shooters, they're not overly physical and quite frankly IQ-wise, when they don't play with better players than them, they disappear.

I agree. If anything reduce icetime or role. Don't trade them before 25 imo. After that we'll see.

Yeah.

For sure.

Also, neither are long necks, which is usually a positive. The parallel I would make with long necks is lower case usernames. They're fighting an uphill battle. So many of them have been automatic shadow ignores, but then you have guys like you, dackell, waiting, etc. But you're really making it hard on yourselves with the lower case names.

Slaf for Lafreniere could be done.
I’m sure it could. And there’s a reason for that.
Dach, not sure. Maybe JT Miller? Maybe old but he's a gamer.
He’s also apparently a jackass. 8 mil a year… Dach obviously has health challenges that he’s working through but if he can find his game I think you get a lot more bang for the buck.

I’m not saying either of these guys are untradeable but I’m not in a hurry to move them either.

Slaf is 20 years old. We’ve seen glimpses of what he can be. I hate the idea of trading him. If we were to move him it better be worth it.

Dach? It’s all about health with him. Before his injury I had total faith that he was going to be a great 2nd line center. Now? There’s a fair bit of doubt.

But he’s working through it and is starting to produce. If he does come back it’s going to be difficult to find a big guy who can produce at that price point.

Management won't be trading either of them. Skilled 6'3" and 6'4" top 6 forwards, just not a chance Hughes or Gorton moves either. Posters just can't handle the vicissitudes of young player development.

Yeah, we're not trading Slafkovsky. He's won more than a few board battles, has moved the puck well in transition hitting both Suzuki & Caufield with pucks that they can carry into offensive zone with speed, goes to the front of the net causing chaos opening up ice for his linemates & disrupts plays with his long reach.

His off the puck play is excellent. His passing / playmaking is quality. He needs to improve his strength, skating & shot. All of those will improve with seasoning.

People want to see him be more physical, but that's not the style MSL wants to play.

He wants Slafkovsky to trap the puck, angle guys off & stay in play, which he does.

They're not trading Slafkovsky. They will have patience and continue to work with him. We need him.
