I missed the whole first period and start of the second, but turned it on and literally ten seconds later Bergeron scored. :D

Saturday ought to be interesting.

Zach Leach of Prohockey wrote the comments below on the handling of the McQuade incident following his response to the Backes hit.

"On a separate note, Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid tried to return the favor later in the game by jumping Carrier late in the first period. For the second time in as many games, McQuaid was restrained before he could even throw a real punch. If the NHL wants to ban fighting, they should, but instructing the refs to instead instantly break up fights is not the way to go. McQuaid expressed a similar opinion arguing with the linesman that pulled him away from Carrier. In tying up McQuaid, the refs allowed Carrier to get several punches off that were direct hits to the Bruins defenseman and to which he had no chance to respond. McQuaid required stitches as a result. To add insult to injury, McQuaid was also given an instigator penalty and a ten-minute misconduct. The entire ordeal was handled incorrectly and the NHL needs to look into alternative methods of handling fighting."

I looked, but couldn't find, a website that would tell me who Spoons has played with throughout the year, because while i know he has played with Krejci some this year, I think your assertion that it's been 90% is pretty inaccurate. I'd like to see the actual stats though.

I don't know the stats but it's definitely less than 90%.

Mostly because I didn't really want to do the math, but 254:16 out of 408:46 5 on 5 has been with Krejci, Backes is 2nd at 175:32. Out of his two most common line mates Czarnik is next at 116, so while 90% isn't right, he has played the vast majority of his time with Krejci 5 on 5.

It is, it's just under 2/3rd.

Thanks for looking up the stats. I thought 90% sounded like too much. But I'll grant you your point that Spooner has played with Krejci and Backes more than with anyone else. So it's not really that Spooner is finally playing with skilled players, it's just that he's heating up and playing better. (or at least producing better)

Hopefully other outlets make similar comments and the league smartens up.

I never thought the officiating could get worse, but it has.

It's abominable right now.

Carrier will likely be suspended for Saturday's game. His hit on Backes was bad.

I am very happy with the resolve the team showed, as well as the regulation win. But the refs making McQuaid a human punching bag has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Also somewhat perturbed at the bogus goal review called by Bylsma. I had the Buffalo feed, but the angles they showed, it wasn't even close.

Couldn't agree more with all of this ^^^^ above.
The refereeing (including the linesmen) were pretty much out of control of the game from the get-go. I just can't understand how season after season the NHL doesn't take a good hard look at their officiating and bring it up to the standard(s) that they should be at.
Re: Bylsma, way overrated coach IMO.

If McQuaid had got a concussion during that fight, he would have been on solid ground to sue the league. I just don't understand why the refs jumped in there. If the league wants to outlaw fighting, throwing extra bodies into the mix isn't the answer. Just start suspending players for it.

McQuaid should jump him and ragdoll him next game, who cares about a little suspension.

Wait until the refs aare far enough away and just do it, if they jump in again keep swinging and if one get hit oh well.

2 games in a row this happens, wtf?

well, I can all but guarantee a scraparoo tomorrow......that is unless the Refs step in yet again:shakehead

The game/product in the last few years already has this fan shying away from watching half as much as it`s far too often boring and systems oriented, now this stuff? Unreal

Who`s getting the call up in Backes absence fans?
