Take this from someone who has boxed and fought in hockey, they are completely different. Probably be better to learn MMA grappling and learning to keep your balance while someone is grabbing you. There is no grabbing in boxing so its hard to mimic the type of fight on skates


The degree of freedom you have on ice skates helps make it a whole different animal, I guess.

Even though it didn't go in, that was pretty embarrassing for Swayman. Serious concerns with his play.
When he’s flying high his ceiling is great, but he can get mentally dinged. Reminds me of Rask for long parts of his career. Composure the weakest part of their game. Rask got through that to a degree towards the end.

100%, balance on skates while getting held and trying to throw makes you end up throwing more arm punches rather than harder punches you could if you were in shoes and using correct mechanics. Most times the way you generate that KO power in hockey fights is pulling your opponent into your punch while spinning a bit, though a well placed punch on a money area would drop most people. Without gloves its like hitting someone with well hard bones.
