It's games like this that really highlight how insane Celebrini's motor is. How many 90 second+ shifts was he out there for? Hell, there was a shift he was out there for 2 minutes on defense and STILL had gas in the tank to attack. Insane. The other thing this game really highlighted is our desperate need for a minute munching D on the level of Mack and Askarov.

So you say there are no better options, but that putting him in the 3rd line means that line gets shelled…

… the only logical conclusion is this: HE SHOULD NOT BE IN THE LINEUP.

It’s no coincidence the Sharks looked their best when he was out injured. I’m still waiting for what Sharks got for doing the Rangers a massive favour but it’s seemingly like it was just a bad move from Grier. There was zero reason to bring him in.

If he was just on the 4th line getting 5-10 minutes I’d be less annoyed because at his best that’s what he is.
i dont get what's so hard to understand, there are no better options than to play him up the lineup right now. there's no one better to replace him in the lineup with, as bad as he is. that spot in the roster is weak even with kostin in it but it's his spot.

We need another top 9 forward in addition to Granlund and Kunin. Smith will grow into one soon enough. Should we trade those two (and Wennberg next year) however, we're going to need more to replace. Graf and Bystedt probably aren't far off, but I'd say we definitely need to find a Wennberg type acquisition or two this summer.

The defense cannot be fixed this offseason, but hopefully we can add some marginal upgrades in Rutta's spot, as well as Dickinson, Muk taking Thrun and Vlasic's spots.

Give it to Cardwell or someone who might possibly have a future.

i dont think any of our prospects does any better than goodrow in that situation tonight. they were going to be caved all night and a rookie probably screws up worse. musty might be the only one projected to be significantly better, and he isn't anywhere near ready for that.

It feels like in the last few games Wallman and Granlund are starting to come down to earth a bit. I hope Granlund can hold on to at least a 2nd round pick value when its time to trade him. Wallman has been playing like a top pairing D-man, but he is probably more of a second pair guy anyway.

I feel like goaltending and those 2 flashing harder than they ever have has masked the quality of our team a bit which has led to some people thinking "we are almost there". We are not really close. We very much deserve to be a bottom 3 team this year.

Defense Fixed? No. But it’s miles better than it was at this time last year and I imagine Grier can ice an average d-core next year with a solid addition into the top 4.

This game is a collective failure by everyone except Askarov. But standouts:

- Lund line is bad and should not be reunited (Coaching bad, players wre bad.)

- Goodrow useless. If Smith did what Goodrow did, his minutes would be cut or he'd get benched. (Goodrow, Coaching bad)

- Ferraro bad.

- Lines were just bad in general (Coaching bad.)

- Mack in OT. Wowza that was terrible.
I didn’t see a failure. Our boys were punching up and made a game of it.

yeah granlund isn't a 1C. he's a 2c and we have basically 1.33-1.66 2nd lines.

it's worth remembering this is a road game. you're gonna get bad matchups, need someone that can credibly survive.

That’s a weird take. The entire team turtled except Celebrini. If you think that he can’t see that and recognize that if they have any chance to win he’s gonna have to do something spectacular then you’re being silly. If you want to be mad, be upset at all the guys who crumbled under the pressure.
I think both things are true. I think Celebrini was frustrated at his teammates doing jack shit for two periods and figured I better do something while not stopping to think that the situation is different now and if I just maintain possession for a bit, my teammates will be along to help me.

Turned into an immediate turnover and rush down the ice and that's your game.

I know some of you guys are like “Askarov deserved better”
All of us guys are like "Askarov deserved better." Gals too.

There were a few open net opportunities that Edmonton whiffed on inexplicably, but Askarov was the only thing keeping us in the game after the Rutta goal.
