Not denying that, but there was no pushback from the majority of the roster. The Oilers are pretty good right they do have the greatest player in the World and Draisaitl is no slouch either

Agreed, he’s been quite brutal since that hit to the head that kept him out a couple gamesI know some of you guys are like “Askarov deserved better” but the Sharks clearly could not handle the Oilers once the Oilers turned it on. They’re too fast and they made our D look childish. They all owe Askarov a beer for the OT point.
Few thoughts:
-having Celebrini is amazing. Having Askarov and Celebrini is insane. If we can just get a defenseman of a similar quality (so so hard I know), we’re in business.
-This was a big learning experience for Celebrini like all of the last high end teams have been. But playing against the best player in the world is certainly eye opening.
-Granlund looks hurt or just totally off his game. I don’t know if it’s concussion issues or confidence issues but he’s a shadow of what he was a month ago. Needs a break or something.
-As I said earlier, these lines aren’t working and Eklund and Celebrini clearly belong together. Go back to the lines we had.
I dunno I mean it sucks to have to run goodrow so high up the roster but that speaks to the lack of better options. putting him on the 3rd line would lead to that line getting shelled IMO. goodrow-smith is rough. hard to judge a lot from this one given the 30 or so place difference in team quality. they fought even though they were getting dummied the whole game so I guess that's what you ask.Obviously there are personnel issues at play (this team is not good, no sugar coating it), but at a certain point you have to look at the string of losses and put a certain amount of responsibility on the coaching staff. Some head- scratching choices from the bench have not helped us.
how the hell is sturm above 50%. he made some awful reads this game.Wow, of all the games we "took a lead into the third and lost it," this is one that we deserved the least to get even a point.
Aaaaaand we have reclaimed our rightful spot as worst points% in the league.
- Askarov - amazing. I can't believe he tried that toe drag to the front of the net, I mean... what the absolute f***, he's insane and it's hilarious.
- Everyone else - boo. We looked tired and completely outmatched, to a man. Held on for dear life. I still think my SNOG of 4-1 with Asky keeping it "close" was a reasonable one. MoneyPuck's xG's have the game at 3.75-1.37.
- Lund line - as LilLeeroy loves to point out, got absolutely caved this game.
- Smith moping today. The one play where he was going to net and Sturm missed him and he skated right to the bench, leaving Sturm and Grundstrom still with possession in the OZ. In general, dude needs to take a lesson from Eklund and skate more/harder. He gets caught flat footed all the time, just frozen looking at the puck in front of him. Get that puck! Put pressure on, man!
- Celebrini - if there's anything he clearly needs to improve, it's his finish 1 on 1 with the keeper. Shootouts, breakaways - these are the only highlight reel plays he doesn't have yet. sometimes seems like he's trying to do too much, maybe just make one move and shoot low and hard next time.
- If anyone has any notions that we're "almost there," Exhibit A is OT, where the top 2 players in the league and a Norris candidate started vs. our golden child and two castaway heroes (Granny, Walman) and immediately were embarrassed.
- Kunin - don't look now, but he's on 20 goal pace. Doesn't ever emote very much - both he and Ferraro when they score just kind of put on the 1000 yard stare - really get the sense he may be looking to get out and may not want to sign long term anyway. In that case, let's hope he keeps it up and gets traded at the TDL. Otherwise, I hope they try to re-sign him, as he's showing he can be a bot6 contributor.

I don’t think that’s fair. Yeah the talent is vastly superior, but momentum and adrenaline were all on Edmonton. San Jose spent the second half of the game purely defending so expecting they’re suddenly going to turn it on after such a let down is a tall task. That’s why I’ve always hated a defensive she’ll.If anyone has any notions that we're "almost there," Exhibit A is OT, where the top 2 players in the league and a Norris candidate started vs. our golden child and two castaway heroes (Granny, Walman) and immediately were embarrassed.
he's been facing some hard competition, to be fair.Agreed, he’s been quite brutal since that hit to the head that kept him out a couple games
And that’s why you need to trade Granlund and Kunin and Ceci and so on and so on.That game should give another gentler reminder of how far off in talent the Sharks are from a contender. They still need everything ahead of the goalie spot.
Someone else said it first, but that was not a defensive shell. That was getting shelled. They are very different.I don’t think that’s fair. I feel like Liljegren was the only skater I liked today.
These two posts went perfectly together.Accurate. Says a lot about our turtle when 5 of the 6 top are d-men.

Yeah they can wait out the deadline unless someone throws something you can’t say no to like if someone throws a 1st for Granlund or a 2nd for Kunin or Ceci. And that’s why you need to trade Granlund and Kunin and Ceci and so on and so on.

Is this Celebrini?beanie even got a stick on that last pass but good players get that pass through
Agree with a lot of this. Celebrini will work on his craft and will get better with experiences like this, not worried at all.I know some of you guys are like “Askarov deserved better” but the Sharks clearly could not handle the Oilers once the Oilers turned it on. They’re too fast and they made our D look childish. They all owe Askarov a beer for the OT point.
