Question: why do they call it highsticking when the stick doesn’t go over the shoulder. If the player goes bends down it should be his responsibility not the opposing player.

Blood is not a guarantee of a double minor on a high stick it's if the player is "injured". Reilly is a p***y so therefore he was iniured

Rule 60.3

They changed that rule 5 years back or so. Dumb change, IMO. Completely arbitrary. But they did rewrite the rule to specifically say that blood drawn is an automatic double minor.

"So that injury results" from the drawing of blood. It's not the blood that makes it an automatic double minor. Most of the time they call it anyways because how do you define an "injured" player really.

I realize that but I didn't think it should have been called Apples was being hooked and I thought he was going for the puck plus the refs didn't initially call the penalty

From the book:

A wild swing at a bouncing puck would not be considered a normal wind up or follow through and any contact with an opponent above the height of the shoulders shall be penalized accordingly.
