It's The Eve of The Eve of Christmas and the Blues are going up against Detroit and Tallbutt. If Blues are planning to turn around the season tonight would probably be the night to do that. Let's see if the Blues can have a Merry Christmas.

I really don't like the decision to start Binner tonight.

Hofer has been unquestionably better than Binner since Thanksgiving. In that stretch, Binner is 1-4-2 with an .888 SV% while Hofer is 3-0-1 with a .927 SV%. The numbers are uglier if you just look at Binner's last 5 games (0-4-1 with an .874 SV%). I don't think Binner has played quite as poorly as those number suggest. But Hofer is objectively outplaying him right now (over a really small sample).

This is about as much of a must-win game as you can have heading into the Christmas break. I very much think we should be playing the goalie who is currently giving us the best chance to win and that would have come with the additional benefit of giving Binner several days off to hit the re-set button. You could still play him against Nashville with the intention of starting him in the Winter Classic.

This is exactly the type of game where I'd like us to utilize our strong #2 goalie.

I just don't understand Texier being thrown on to the top line. He has the skill to be a top 6 player, but he isn't responsible enough to be in the lineup, let alone the top line. Just way too chaotic.

Because f*** giving top line time to the guy that has actually earned it, we're gonna give it to f***ing Texier that can barely make the line up.

I’m happy that Neighbours and Bolduc are together. I think both could really benefit from the other. Bolduc is engaged but can’t make room for himself just yet while Neighbours is excellent about drawing opposing players in. Just having a professional with experience like Sunny or Faksa should facilitate zone movement well enough to let the young guys open up a bit.

These use to be the biggest games of the regular seasons, shame what their move to the East has done to the rivalry.

“He’s in the clear!” (As the back checker catches up to Parayko. Kelly has no idea what “in the clear” means)

I think we’ve had 3 odd man rushes and no shots.

The ever-festive Red Wings continue to look ridiculous, proudly sporting their best Santa Claus impersonator attire tonight.
