Sharks set the NHL record for best losers in history! That's so perfect! they outplay (or at least toe to toe) with the best teams in the league, but still lose in regulation. I get the whole "you are your recrd" argument, but I don't buy it in this case. 4 out of the last 5 games the sharks had 3rd period leads against carolina, utah, winnipeg, and Colorado. That's impressive, and if they had solid goaltending and just a guy or two more, theyd be all set!
I think the goaltending will be fine moving forward. Askarov looks like he'll be fine as an NHL goalie. They need at least one more elite skater to push them into the next tier of competitive teams.

Defense as a whole while he let in 2 softies and ran into one of our guys to get off the ice for the ENG. Honestly if Askarov started, we win, handedly
I don't know about that. Askarov has played in games where he lets one squeak through or off a bad turnover on his part. He still has some wrinkles to iron out when he starts playing regularly here.

Maybe it was my insane expectations for Celebrini but he looked a little tired in the 3rd. It looked like he gave up on a few of his back checks and d zone coverages.

Btw this is completely normal for any player especially an 18 year old playing over 20 minutes a night. It just shows how good he is and how committed to D he is that it was noticeable when he had an off night.
It’ll be rough in the last few months. He’ll be gassed having never played this many games. I’m expecting us to win like 3 games in the final two months. I fully anticipate it being ugly.

Avs fan here, your already killing it with the nicknames. We never came with anything this good 😂
I’m mean with a guy like Garbageiev he makes it easy, it’s one thing to play bad it’s another thing to have a shitty attitude and no accountability for it. I liked him when he was with rangers and was hoping the sharks would’ve traded for him, unfortunately we have the wish.com version and have buyers remorse

I get it.
There’s something in the fact that we’re leading in games recently. Obviously, closing out games is beyond our boys but it’s a step in the right direction.
Absolutely. Warsofsky has kept them competitive despite our lack of talent compated to the Avs. Eith talent we win tons of games. He just needs to teach them how play with killer instinct. This group can fo it

It seems like the expected lottery season is causing a lot of controversy because we actually play competitive hockey against good teams.

The difference is still that the elite teams close these games out. This is part of the process. I am f***ing stoked at how we have played against the likes of Washington, Winnipeg, and Colorado.

Leads in the 3rd period at home have not been good. But the talent still isn't there on this roster to really close that out. I think this is what next season will be all about, adding and upgrading this summer through prospects and FA and we should be winning more of these games.

I think this trajectory is pretty in-line with contending for the playoffs in 2 more years

But also, Georgiev is abysmal and if he's already talking like that about the team he JUST joined; his days are numbered. But for now, embrace the chance at one more elite prospect before things start to change.

After that post game interview alone and I want him gone already, seems like he’s going to be a massive locker room cancer

Thanks for the heads up.
I’m confused on why some are bent over what he said. I didn’t see anything demeaning to our players.
What he said isn't actually up there. He basically said the defense has to play smarter.

Also, looks like Will Smith has been demoted to the 4th line, probably as a result of the turnover that lead to the tying goal. I'm not sure he would have been as punished so severely if Georgiev was able to make the save so there are consequences beyond the score sheet to Georgiev's poor play. But then again, who knows with War's constant meddling.

To be fair, Smith didn't really look good last night. Back to his early season ways -- he gets a chance or two in the game through his skill/IQ, but otherwise looks like a passenger and a step behind, and is good for 1-2 egregious turnovers. Hopefully he gets his feet back under him quickly, and despite it sounding good on paper, the Eklund-Wennberg-Smith line isn't really working. Would like to once again see him back with Granlund.

4giev's poor play isn't likely the nail in the coffin on Smith's demotion.

He sounded like he was laying the blame for the loss at the feet of the d corps instead and not mentioning that he let in a couple of soft goals that were 100% on him. Even if he actually thinks that, it's a dick move to say to the press. He should've just said "we have to play better. I have to be better."

And doing so would seem to be in character given the strife that apparently surrounded him in the Colorado locker room.

Maybe it’s that English isn’t his first language?

Yes he could have held his tongue but clearly this being a revenge game it meant a lot to him and they literally let a guy skate up and take a shot from below the dots without any pressure. You really can’t say that a shot from there un pressured is a “soft” goal.

No, but it magnifies the magnitude of the error, but for the most part I agree.

I honestly haven't been as overly impressed by Smith as some here. I think he makes as many egregiously good plays as bad one in a game, but for the most part is just there. I'm not forming an opinion one way or another though because he's 19, still in his first season and being bounced around, but the talent level between him and Celebrini is obviously noticeable.

I know you want to be positive, but Georgiev has a history of antagonizing his teammates and being a bit of a locker room cancer. Sometimes a guy's just not that likeable.

Grier will certainly try to rehab his value and move him for peanuts at the TDL, I have no question on that, and then we don't have to worry about him any more. If he's played so badly that he can't move, well, we won't be re-signing him.
