If I remember correctly, Yzerman actually said he wasn't making the goal this year to simply make the playoffs and he was thinking more long term to build a young nucleus that will compete and make deep run for year after year.

Watched it before ,clearly remembered him saying he expected us to be in a wildcard mix this season

Again, dont know how anyone could have seen that being a reality with a d core of maata chiarot petry holl gustaffson and 2 rookies. Never was gonna happen

I like what T-Mac said in his presser about finding ways to use each player's strong suit. I feel like half our guys are square pegs in round holes. They're trying to do things that don't suit their skill set. I think Tarasenko, Petry, and Chiarot could be really good in the right roles. Guys like Fischer, Kane, Gustafsson, Kasper, and Berggren would benefit by tweaks to their usage, too.

Virtually everyone began declining (Holl was actually solid all game imo) as the 2nd period started but there is one constant through everything now and before TM:

Kane is absolutely done. He's a far-cry from what he looked like last year. Doesn't look confident handling the puck or making cross-seam passes. Even when he's stationary. I wonder if he's been dealing with a lot of hip pain that he's not telling us about

He's not a bottom 6 guy obviously, and he's a major black hole in the top 6. Not even good on the PP anymore. He can sit there and head fake and that's about it. He would be addition by subtraction at this point
