Maybe I am overstating the leadership of players like Messier, etc. But maybe not having proper leadership on the ice/room has an effect too?

I get the feeling that CK is trying to do it all. It seems there are two leaders: the father types, who focus on teaching and organization, and the brother types, who focus on morale and building relationships. Kreider is trying to be both, because no one else can fill the remaining role, and that doesn’t work.
