Problem with that is what kind of commitment you’d have with that top pairing D since he could be blocking playing time for a hoarde of upcoming D, who may deserve to graduate soon. Also, where do you find a guy like that and what would he cost? Don’t know if it’s viable.

He's just a dman with ~16 minutes of time on ice in average, you'd want him to get more ice time if he was really that effective on his pairing.
