That's you. You sound ridiculous. Get off your high horse, you aren't a better fan because you watch the team implode and apparently don't care.
Dude, time to step outside for a smoke. Maybe walk around the block.

Why do you have to blow up at somebody in every f***ing GDT? Your nasty gets old real quick.

That last sentence would apply to every team in the league.

Also my opinion but people who get angry at their team losing, especially when they aren't in attendance for that game, should probably de-prioritize professional sports.
If you’re not emotionally attached to your team and their outcomes, then what is the point of watching sports?

According to the Freep, Minny starts Jesper Wallstedt in net. Never heard of this clown before.

Is the Jester any good?

So now we all have something to occupy our minds after the second period.
Well he has a 0-2 record losing to VGH and Dallas but the bad news is, his only win came against the Jets stopping 38 of 40 shots in preseason.
Wild ran into aa hot goalie last night and their PP went 0-5 ... what are the odds their first PP tonight they score on a fluke?

Sounds like the holiday family trip isn't as grim as you were expecting.
No, it's going very well. Funny item: I loaded up my laptop with practice videos and I used a good chunk of the long flight refreshing my ASL. A couple of hours in, a flight attendant was asking folks if they'd like a drink and when it got to my turn, she mimed the whole thing thinking I was deaf.

Met at the airport by my baby sister and her new fiance. He seems nice, but awfully shy for a future lawyer. Dad was at a free clinic (he's retired but still has his licence) but Mom was at home to greet me and was warmer than usual. When my older sister and husband showed up for dinner, there was the normal chaos in the front hall but I stood up by the fireplace and signed her hello and how good she looked. She put one hand over her mouth and I swear she teared up. Not exactly a Hallmark moment but it kind of set the tone for the visit.

So far, it's been really great except for the constant rain. I'd forgotten how it penetrates the bones. Tonight, the siblings are going out on the town as a trio for the first time in forever. I'm hoping I drift out the door on the pleasure of a Jets victory tonight.

Also no netting behind the goals , i know this because one time at a game a puck cleared the glass and like a dumbass i wasn't paying attention and got the puck right in the chest. Players were looking at me from the ice and St.Johns ambulance people were running up towards me and i waved them away because i was too cool for that.:laugh:About 10 minutes later i turned to my buddy and said let's go I'm in a tonne of pain. Man that hurt and i still have a little bump on my chest today from that.

When I was a kid I was watching a junior game and a puck hit the chair next to me at a speed that was great enough to have possibly killed me. I wonder why in the 80s and 90s people were just like "should we have safety stuff? Nahhhhh".

It's been, what, a couple hours now? And I still can't get over how ridiculous this take is.

If you're not in the building, paying money to be in the seat, you can't get upset over a loss?

Do you actually believe that, or are you just trying to rhetorically win a debate to be annoying? I really need to know.

Or was this just you taking a shot at me because I don't live in Winnipeg anymore, and that doesn't make me as much as a Jets man as you?

A buddy and I were waiting for a train in Calif a few years back and these 2 gorgeous babes practically half-naked were signing away hands going like crazy. From maybe 10 feet away I quietly told my buddy what I'd like to do with the blonde one and she turns all angry and tells me to FO.
Learned never to assume that anyone using sign language is always deaf.

None of our girls ever wore a bike helmet and they cycled all over the neighbourhood half the time without telling us where they went. Today we'd be up on at least 2 charges for that. Safety was a different issue back in the 80s.

As a proud member of the Tier 2 underclass of fans, I'm wishing the Jets well tonight. I'll do my best to control my emotions if they lose. I know I don't have the God-given right to express those emotions, having not paid money to go to the arena. Go Jets!

if I'm allowed to say that.

He's probably the best goalie prospect outside of Askarov in the NHL.

There's upset and there's "f***ing angry".

Entertainment, nice break from day to day life, enjoyment. Being upset is one thing but it shouldn't ruin your day if they lose.

I didn't say you can't get upset. I said I don't understand getting upset or angry when your team loses. I can understand some level of annoyance if someone has paid money to go to a game and the team puts in no effort. Otherwise I don't really get it. It doesn't make anyone a "toer 2" fan that you've taken as a strawman and posted a few times about (after hilariously accusing me of gaslighting, using that term incorrectly by the way). They're highly paid professional athletes, to me it's like getting angry if your favourite actor or director makes a bad movie.

And I really don't care where you live. Fans can be fans of whichever team they want to be no matter where they're from. Although it's funny from someone who calls Leafs and Habs fans that go to games, traitors. They're buying those tickets from Jets fans.

Why would you let ANYTHING that you can't control affect you emotionally (let alone whether a team of millionaires you've never met beats another team of millionaires you've never met in a game)?

It's like letting the universe control your emotional state. Sounds exhausting

It's not a strawman argument. You literally wrote, and feel free to check the record, you wrote that you don't understand how people can get upset after a loss if they don't pay money and are in the stands. How else can anyone read that but only the tier 1 fans who get to go to the building and spend the money are allowed to get upset without you passing judgment?

And yes, this is the exactly correct use of gaslighting. You're doing it again. You made a point, and you're trying to pretend like that's not what you're saying, convincing me that I'm the crazy one. Literally the definition of gaslighting.

But you are a tier 1 fan, I presume, so who am I to judge in any way, shape, or form?

Are you trying to draw me in to an argument so you can thread Ban me, or, can we return to talking what's on the ice?

It wasn’t about sex, the mention of chainsaws and cement blocks was probably a red flag :sarcasm:

Fixed it for you

Lost to Chicago 3-2 on the second night of a back to back on the road on Tuesday then came back and beat Carolina 3-1 after two days rest at home on Friday

You make it sound like the Jets are the only team at the top of the standings that loses to bad teams
I have to chime in. It is not losing to 'bad teams' which is relative in the PHL (parity hockey league) where refs do their best to keep it close for entertainment purposes. It is how they get caved in (or) 8 shots in 2 periods , needing pp's to beat SJ
I will say Jets are not as bad nor as good as we all think. Let's just enjoy this matchup vs our Nordic neighbours to the South.

If you’re not emotionally attached to your team and their outcomes, then what is the point of watching sports?
Here , here and it is financially impossible for 99 percent of fans to attend away games and home games. I go to about 10 a year and over the Jets time here I could have applied those dollars to a TFSA and have a nice next egg but choose to support my team which requires emotional and financial investment to be a part of

And just to kick that dead horse some more, the player we should have drafted instead of Chaz the Breakable.

100% agree, I've been banging that drum since it was the Jets turn to draft that year

I said I don't understand how people get upset when their favourite team loses ESPECIALLY if they haven't dropped money to go watch it in person. That doesn't create a fan tier system. You took that and ran with it. I also couldn't be gaslighting you when that was my first post in the thread. You also posted three times about it before my second response.

If your definition of tier 1 fan is someone who goes to games, then no. I've been to two or three since the pandemic restrictions were lifted. They lost two of those. I left the arena and went about my evening not being upset.

I don't think I've used the thread ban option at all since I started moderating. I have better things to do than to try to draw people into infractions.

As for the game, Minnesota is good but their record against the top half of the Central over the past few years has not been good. Last game of the year against the Wild, could be two straight seasons sweeping the season series.

In October, I went to see Les Miserables in London. I probably spent half the time in tears, moved by the absolutely beautiful singing and the incredible acting. And it was just, it was just, it was perfect. Now this, I'm not French, I'm not English, the story had nothing really to do with me, but I was still deeply, deeply moved. And I think that the way I view and interpret the world is somewhat shaped by that experience. Don't have the ill impression that you have to be directly connected to something, and have personal stakes in something for you to be moved emotionally, either by being upset, being moved to tears, or feeling joy. That's not how people work.
