Blues vs reigning, defending, undisputed Stanley Cup Champions of the NHL Florida Panthers. Blues have been on a skid and honestly I don't expect us to win tonight against a really good team. But, I've seen weirder things.

Hopefully we win and like beating Boston during a regular season nothing game in 2009 it spurs confidence and we go on a run to secure the playoffs.

Edit: if we go full 2009 and get swept by Vancouver in the first round though I won’t be happy. Hate that team we never beat them in the playoffs.

Surely we can find more train pictures from Florida than Brightline crashes!

Never been on one, but one of their rail lines runs right past Ivanhoe Park Brewing Co., one of my favorite Orlando watering holes. True story.

Just saw that Binnington is 3rd in games played by goalies in the NHL, why do they keep overplaying him every year? Spread out his starts a little more ffs especially when we have a talented young goalie in Hofer.

They really need to change the forward lines. Thomas needs more speed to play with. Suck it up down the middle and let Sunny play 3rd line C and stop neutralizing Holloway’s ability to impact a game. Toropchenko is way out of his element.

I'm usually very critical of the way we manage our goalies, but I don't think his workload has been as egregious as it looks on the surface.

Binner is in a 5 way tie for 4th with 24 starts this season. There are 2 guys with 23 starts and 6 guys with 22 starts. The 3 guys with 21 starts are tied for 17th. At this stage of the season a couple 'extra' starts makes a big difference. And it is well worth noting that are 34 games played as a team are also near the top of the standings. There are 2 teams with 35 games played and then 6 teams with 34 games played. The other 24 teams around the league are between 30 to 33 games played. Two of the goalies tied in starts with Binner play for teams that have played 3 fewer games than us. The two goalies with 1 fewer start than Binner both play for teams with fewer games played. Assuming Hofer starts tonight in our 35th game, that will give all these teams 2-4 games in hand for their starters to catch up or pass Binner's start total.

Weirdly, even though we have a high games played total, our schedule has been extremely well spread out. We've only had 3 back-to-backs so far and we have only had 2 weeks with 4 total games (if you count a week as Monday-through-Sunday. If you count the week as Sunday-through-Monday then we are currently in our 2nd such week). We haven't had a whole lot of 'busy' stretches where it is easy to rotate in your 2nd goalie.

Don't get me wrong, I want Hofer to be playing more and I'd like to be resting Binner more. Starts are currently 24-10 and I'd like that number to be more like 22-12 or 21-13. But I don't think Binner's workload has been as high as it seems when you just look at start or games played totals.

All that said, I haven't seen confirmation about Hofer starting tonight and I'm going to be very pissed if we go back to Binner with the justification that they split last night's game.
