How does Larkin not bear some of the responsibility for this shit show? It's one thing to go out there and skate your ass off and dig deep and lose games anyway because of a bad system. I'm not sure what exactly the system is, which is totally on management, but this team has a lot more issues than that. Bad starts. No cohesion. Lack of energy. No accountability. No drive. These are partially the responsibility of player leadership.

He just called all of that out and said he wasn’t doing enough… so not sure tonight is the night, that is as dejected as I have ever seen Larkin. I thought that was him taking a shot at everyone including himself but also basically pleading with Yzerman that the team was broken. Like I said before that post-game was very honest with him looking lost and incredibly depressing.

Yzerman has put the team in a terrible spot by not firing Lalonde early in the season. The writing was on the wall for so long, and now what, fire him when the season is already over?

Keeping him will demoralize the players and normalise this abysmal shitty play.

But also, I wonder if it doesn't rub Yzerman the wrong way a little bit. Is Larkin telling him "Wah, there's a coach in here that is telling us to do things we don't want to do so we're going to be sad and not play very well."

I know that Bowman had a long successful run before he came to Detroit but the Wings enjoyed success when the young captain bought into the coach's system and dragged everyone with him.

Yeah this game ought to be the one to cash the check on the coach. I don't think the right one needs to be hired now, but one of the assisstants needs to take over at least.

Lalonde should've cleaned out his office last spring.

This is 100% on Yzerman...We're well underway of another dismal season...Why bother addressing it now when it should've been handled months ago.

Because of how bad the effort level is. For the guys we hope to build around, it has bottomed out too far.

Raymond’s thousand yard stare in the third, Mo crushes the team after Montreal and now Larkin basically giving his most dejected presser outside of when his best friend was traded tells me this is a very toxic environment that is wearing on the players. We need some changes immediately in my opinion.

At this point, I don't care if Quenneville brings MOD… Maybe Adam Foote for assistant coach and Chris Pronger as PK specialist.

Anybody but this coaching staff.

I agree, but the cynic in me just wants to sit back, grab some popcorn, and watch how far this shit can unravel...Hope the lottery goes in our favor and a new coaching staff in October gets this team back on track.

Blashill and now Lalonde...Several plus seasons of ineptitude behind the bench.

The tank is about to kick into high gear. Once this homestand is over and we flip the calendar, the Wings will most likely be dead last in the east.

Question for the group, if Nashville called up and offered all 3 of the first round picks they own for this upcoming draft, for Larkin, would you take it?

No lottery protection on the Nashville pick is required.
