A goalie gives up 2 goals in regulation against a very offensive team and gets the blame. OTOH, the BRUINS impotent offense scores two goals against a weak defensive team and Swayman gets the blame.
This team is in dire need of an offensive defenseman. He doesn't have to be 6'5" tall.

That game was entertaining and fun until the last three minutes lol. The team played well overall until they ran out of gas at the end. One thing that is clear to me: when they are playing good hockey, they are still short on finish. It's a recurring theme this season where they get ridiculous numbers of grade-A scoring chances and don't put enough of them away. The fact that they get those chances tells me they are a good when on their game, but need some finish. And for the love of God FIX THE GODDAM POWEPLAY!!!! How many games might they have won if they had a PP that worked like it should?

Played well overall against a team with a potent offence. That's encouraging.
I'll look at some positives:

- E Lindholm continues to play better and contribute
- Wahlstrom looked pretty good. Some good defensive plays, too. Maybe once he settles in to the team's style of play, his vaunted shooting ability will start to be a real asset. Brazeau was very engaged last night and uses his size well to win puck battles, but if Wahlstrom can replace him in the top 6 and start putting the puck in the net, it'll be a boon. Lot of if's, but we'll see.
- Carlo had a strong game
- Kastelic scores. He may or may not be "Sugar Shawn" 2.0, but how can you not like a guy that plays with grit and tenacity, is willing to drop the gloves, and can also contribute on the score sheet?

Over thinking actually IS LOW IQ. One of the best goal scorers in modern day NHL needs to shoot, shoot, shoot when he has a HDSC. Why are you taking a HDSC
and turning it into a lower chance?

I think this too - his list of teams he was willing to go to was most likely limited. Didn’t Sweeney have him on the way to LA at one point and Linus said no? He probably wanted to stay on the east coast (Started in Buffalo…..then to Boston…..now Ottawa….)

Hyman was the most surprised of all that it went in.

It sucks the way they lost but there is a lot to be happy and optimistic about. Like Fenway said, it looks like the team has bonded and you can see it on the ice. I'll take the point and their solid play for 57 minutes and move on to tomorrow's game.

On both goals they hung Swayman out to dry. No excuses for changing lines in that situation, not once, but twice.

How people can blame Swayman for those goals is beyond me. Yes, he could have stopped Edmonton's first goal, but certainly not the last two.

you know I didn’t notice that specifically last night but I do feel like I see good players trying to take long hero shifts out there more this year then ever before. I don’t know if it’s coaching or just something these leaders feel is right for the team but I think those long shifts lead to many more opportunities for the opponent than the Bruins. Just seems like a total lack of discipline.

Don't agree. To overthink, you have to be able to think in the first place. But maybe I'm overthinking it?

It's complicated by the fact that he is a good passer and playmaker. Was it the Vancouver game where he had 3 assists? Nice plays. But he needs to follow his instincts better, to know when to shoot and when to make a different play.
