I’m pissed at the refs but Utah targeted Celebrini all game and the response from the team was not sufficient.

Kunin and Goodrow’s high salaries relative to their on-ice impacts are often said to be justified based on their ability to protect young players. But they did Jack shit about Celebrini getting bullied all game.
Wish Dellandrea would have just dropped his gloves and started chucking knowing what the result of the game is now.

eh it matched the eye test, a lot of puck races and battles lost.
Not their best game for certain, but it should have ended in ot/shootout if reffed fairly.

I don't think it was a well-reffed game...but the Sharks were outshot 40-22. They "deserved" to lose.
What a thing to say, no shit they deserved to lose and were outplayed but you want them to lose like that? Getting blatant non calls with the risk of injuring players like Celebrini and Granlund taking boarding calls and shots to the head.

If you are okay with how this game went down and want fans to not feel any kind of anger I don’t know what else to say. In the end I am disappointed that players like Kunin/Goodrow were nowhere to be found standing up for the star players of this team.

Like if you see our future franchise player getting targeted with no penalty why are our guys not taking the same liberties vs theirs or you know you could also retaliate on the guy that is doing the dangerous play on Celebrini, the same guy that did the questionable play in the preseason

We have complete agreement on one part: I don't like the team's response to those dangerous hits.

But the calls not going your way...that happens all the time. It's part of hockey; it's adversity that teams need to learn to push through.

Back from the game. I thought we were outplayed due to such a bad 3rd period. Multiple penalties by Utah were missed. They targeted Mack. Smith looked rusty. Celebrini could have definitely had another goal and assist (rebound off Eklund shot hitting post & he set up Toffoli perfectly). But I’ll take the Celebrini/Eklund points and another loss to help in the top 4 pick race.

This felt like a learning game tonight, a game for growth for this group. I loved watching as Macklin was seeing red multiple times--you see that fire coming to another level, and while it's unfortunate how it came about, you still love to see that in him as a soon-to-be leader and future captain of this team. But others on the team hopefully also learned something--and ultimately you hope this game helps bring them together as a group.

Kind of tough to assess things in this game. Did the Sharks get outplayed? Yeah, though that was primarily in the 3rd. But if the officiating had been balanced, the ice is likely tilted less in Utah's direction overall. Who knows what kind of impact that might've had--but overall, especially in the first two periods, a pretty solid effort plus some bad penalties from Kunin that also threw it off.

Okay, enough of the level-headed bullshit. I had to pour myself a couple fingers of my small batch Teeling whiskey near the end of this one, so...

What the f*** was that? Just some of the most incompetent--nay, dangerously bad--officiating I've seen in years? Is Utah the new Vegas? Some of those guys, Stenlund in particular, can f*** off. But the big problem is their shitty, dirty play was enabled by Rooney and the other stooge.

I hope Grier writes the league a strongly worded letter and Warsofsky delivers Rooney and that other clown (maybe the linesman while he's at it) some dried up turds disguised as coal in their stockings on Christmas Eve this year.

There are a few veterans in this team that should be humiliated by their game tonight. The fact that Ian Cole, Bjugstad, and Stenlund walked off the ice tonight without a scratch on them is an organizational embarrassment. Their entire game plan was cheapshotting your 18 year old phenom and Ceci, Goodrow, Kunin, etc. just stood by, let it happen, and basically force Celebrini to fight his own fights.

Also shame on the multiple media members for giving kudos to Ceci for veteran leadership or whatever, and especially shame on the person that asked Celebrini if he was grateful that Ceci was out there to protect him. Ceci literally watched him get slammed face first into the boards and went over and lightly shoved the guy.

As long as we're demoting players for bad stretches of games, how about we start firing some shots across the bows of these vets that keep taking penalties, keep getting dominated every single night on the ice, and do absolutely nothing while your franchise player gets speared and boarded. Why is accountability only reserved for young or skilled players?

Also the refs should be embarrassed. Complete incompetence letting a young star get targeted like that.
