It would seem that the new coach bump has subsided. Blues will settle into 6th in the Central and we’ll all start looking at possibilities for pick 14-16.

How can the new coach bump be wearing off when we were all told it's not a thing? We were told Monty is so good and Bannister so bad that Monty's first game was just the new normal and there would be no regression.

So, you see, it can't be a new coach bump wearing off. It's just NJ getting overly pumped up to play the greatest coach in history, a guy so good he can turn a team around with a single morning skate. NJ played above their heads, and the Blues are still the best coached team in the history of coaching (also Kyrous laziness clearly cost the team as well, not even Montgonery can trump Fortnite).

Ehhhh. Devils are 2nd in the league. They are a really good team. Outside of the loss against San Jose i think we are winning against teams we should and losing against teams we should. Playing against the good teams is just showing our holes in the team.

There was a shift where Faulk threw the puck up the middle in the defensive zone, it got picked off and the Devils maintained possession. A few seconds later, Faulk did the exact same thing with the exact same result.

Yeah, it seems like the only guy actually available right now is Josh Norris. Which while it would be an Immediate upgrade and I think he would slot in perfectly between Holloway and Kyrou. I think his shoulder injury and his 8M a year cap hit for the next 5 or 6 years is a big no no.

Edit: And I think Dvorsky will be a better fit.
Purely looking at Norris' assists over time, no thank you. He's supposed to be a center, but his numbers don't scream center. Relatively few assists and 8m per.

However, I don't watch OTT, so maybe he is great at dishing the puck, but has few teammates who can finish the dish.

He's more of a shooter than a passer and a very solid defensive game. I think having someone like that Between Holloway and Kyrou could give those two a little more room because the opposing team has to give a little more attention to the Center. But. I still think id rather just wait for Dvorsky

It was the first shift of the third period, no clue what he was trying to do on that shift

Exactly. Based on points percentages to date, we've had the 4th toughest schedule, and we're in the murderer's row part of our schedule with 7 in 11 days. Let's take a breath.

My only contribution. But Faulk was passing the eye test for at least the first 15 games. And while Broberg has turned out to be excellent, I have to credit some to Faulk for seemingly being an easy partner to play with. Not to mention how many shifts Faulk took with Perun. I wouldn't be surprised if he is playing hurt.
Or he just sucks.

I don't want a shoot-first center.

It's very cool that Armstrong wants to squeeze every drop of juice out of this team and it still isn't good enough for the playoffs.

Yeah it would be much better if the GM and players just stopped trying completely. I mean even bother showing up to work at this point, right?

I do? Okay

Well look how many open shots Thomas passes up, his passing is almost wasted because we have hardly anyone willing just to shut the mother f***er, so why hope for another Thomas when we could hope for a center that will shoot? I mean don't get me wrong, multiple Thomas would be amazing but we desperately need shooters. IMO

Or the GM works to build for the future rather than some meaningless extra wins now. The players work on individual improvement and being as competitive as they can be. But the GM maximizes future assets.

Pretend you are a business that makes widgets. The widget market is dying, and market research indicates a similar but different product, doohickies, will be the next wave. Do you tear down a widget line to build out a doohickie line? That will hurt this year's revenue, but will position you for success in the future? Or do you double down on widgets to earn a bit more revenue in a losing battle with time?

Trading for Fowler is doubling down on the dying market. Instead we need to be investing in the future.

Why are some posters soo disingenuous with this viewpoint. Reality Czech, you know what you posted is not at all what Thallis was saying. We disagree a lot, but you are smarter than to misunderstand that badly. So why paint the picture that Thallis was advocating Armstring do nothing? You can disagree with his opinion, but what gain is there to mischaracterizing it so badly.

I gave Faulk a pass last year, but I thought he'd regain form this season. Nope, looks about the same: uninspired to frustrating.
