Why do we need the rest the top guys, they are going into Christmas break? Its hockey the game of puck luck and bounces, even the biggest underdogs win about 1/3 of the time.

Washington game is a back to back. Not saying they take out the big guys from the lineup but keep all forwards at 15-16 mins and D under 20 mins and rest Helle to maximize the odds of beating Washington the next night. If the Jets can get 4 points from the 3 games before Christmas that'd be ideal and Sens + Caps is prob the easiest way of getting there considering how much of a juggernaut Boston is and or injuries.

Whenever I hear the Jets get a chance, and I see Harkins get the puck, I just expect the chance to fizzle out. Maybe it's just sip getting to me.

EDIT: This thread also basically guarantees he'll make me eat my words.
True but we can only play the guys we have. With Harkins I know it may not result in a goal but it will more than likely result in the Jets having control of the puck, generating some zone time and maybe a shot or two. When I see AJF or Saku I don't even have much hope of a shot let alone a scoring chance.

Both AJF and Saku are objectively worse than Harkins both at scoring and generating chances. Haven't seen Kuhlman enough but I'd wager Harkins is better than him as well. Right now he is the best option on the 3rd line, Lowry has had his best results with him.

Interesting thought - go super top heavy - how many minutes could we expect out of our top-two lines in that case?

I'd be worried about surviving 30 minutes with the rest of the team.
Ya the top 2 lines would probably play more but at least at home Bowness has last change and can match lines a little.

There is too much Harkins slander, he in fact has been very impactful in his role:

That is one of the best graphs I have seen from a bottom-6 Jets winger other than Perrault. I am more than happy with his play and if he keeps this up that's great for the Jets. His scoring rate so far is about that of an average 3rd liner and he is controlling play at an elite level.

My problems with Harkins would not show up in any fancy-stats.

And this opinion is way more vibes-based than basically any other Jets opinion I have.

I also personally don't think it's a coincidence/variance that his xGF and actual GF are vastly far apart.

EDIT: I am fully willing to be proven wrong on this with his play on the ice.

Saku was heating up offensively around the time of his injury and does a lot of stuff well so I would not put him and AJF in quite the same category.

Gotta agree, Hurtkins has the innate ability kill plays with this carrying the puck to no where or mostly losing it by hanging onto the puck for too long, very reminiscent of ex-Jet Burmi!

bothers me that we are wasting time talking about him, without injuries he’d still be on the Moose, 31 other teams passed on him when he went on waivers which speaks for itself!

@macmaroon you are going to have to stop doing these, the Dude is getting too smart from all the new knowledge. Ok at least the Jets had a day off yesterday and even with all our injuries Helly will be playing and he can keep us moving on up the standings tonight.:nod:Damn, going to be tough without Helly but let's win tonight anyway.

Aw yes, this episode was one of my favourites.
Memory lane, thanks:)

Quick side note -- I just joined the "survivor pool" starting on the 23rd. I've never played in one before, but I assume I pick one game per day, straight up, and you're eliminated after three mistakes, yeah?

Also, how does one go about logging their picks in it?

PS Go Jets Go let's please win this k and thanks.

I am entirely opposed to talking about fourth-line players in general unless we get a huge outlier, but the problem is Harkins has to play third line due to injuries.
