I didn't know Goodrow was playing until the camera panned on him during a stoppage. He seemed invisible.
Agreed. I generally had felt positive about Goodrow, but nearly 30 games into the season and his output is replacement-level.

If you look at the glut of bottom-6 players the Sharks have, then Wennberg, Kunin, and Sturm have more than earned their ice time. Kovalenko is new. Kostin was rightfully benched and has recently put together a few good games. But Grundstrom, Goodrow, and Dellandrea have been, at best, clock-killers. Why not give Graf, Cardwell, Gushchin, Bordeleau, and Bystedt the opportunity?

Lol yeah why not give Bordeleau a shot? 5 points in 16 AHL games he's clearly earned it.

He was steady in the first two periods. Looked a little shaky in the 3rd with some poor clearing attempts but was good overall. Is playing at a proper speed for this level for the most part though. He looks to have pretty high upside if it clicks for him.
I also thought he had a few plays where his decision making wasn't crisp, but it looked like some jitters more than a concerning trait.

I thoroughly enjoyed that game! Celebrini, what a kid. I’m still in disbelief that we got him and he’s THIS good. He’s good at so many things. I never really knew his shot was so accurate but he’s got a Pavelskian release/accuracy (especially young Pavelski with his snipes). He’s so fun to watch, it’s awesome.

I have to pat myself on the back because in the previous game’s GDT I said Kovi was going to put up 3-4 pts and show chemistry with Celebrini. I was a game late but I KNEW IT. Honestly, they just made sense to me. A smart, fast playmaker who hustles like crazy and wins pucks down low is the perfect guy for Celebrini because he can both keep up with him and do the most important thing anyone can do on this team: get the kid the puck. Really liked Kovi’s game today.

I think we can ease up on Eklund. He’s been great this year. Even if he IS pouting, fine, he’s 22, like, give him a bit, let him work through it. He’s an awesome player and, I hope, part of this team’s future.

Muhk looked good! Hope he can take this and run with it.

Yeah, nothing too concerning--similar to what I've seen of him previously.

I'd say the main thing with Mukhamadullin is that he can be kind of a timid, passive player in his own end, especially. Obviously that can have consequences for a defender, but it also feels like the kind of thing he can get over in time, gradually. Like it might still even be a part of his game (hopefully to a lesser extent) in two years, but he'll still only be 24 then!

It's not exactly the same as I remember with Mike Rathje--different players in some regards--but it does at least call him to mind. But I do believe in Mukh and still see a solid 2nd pairing d-man as his future.

No, but I remember Kevin rubbing a lot of the players, especially the older ones the wrong way.
It was pretty a similar situation Kevin more a less called them out and said they can be better, and it worked for that game but larionov warned him that bullshit wouldn’t work again

See, in that situation I don’t blame Igor. He was like 36 or 37 I believe and had played a ton of high level hockey. Eklund has no business being pouty about a justified demotion other than immaturity.

In the last two seasons, Goodrow has 3 more points than Bordeleau despite playing in 4x more NHL games. Put another way, Bordeleau has scored more NHL points in his last 43 NHL games than Goodrow has in his last 107+ games.

I do too. I liked him in his brief stint last year, his stint in the A and then the game today. I’ve seen nothing that tells me he can’t thrive in the NHL other than injuries. He needs a better d partner. He’s got some real offensive jump and a terrific shot but it’s all wasted if he’s stuck in his own zone for 2 minutes.

How effective Celebrini's shooting deception is really fun to watch too. I rewatched that 2nd goal a few times just to figure out why Binnington reacted to the shot like he did. I don't think I can name another player who fakes and shoots like he does.

Yeah, I think it’s very, very hard to tell when he’s going to shoot and where he’s going to shoot it and he’s VERY accurate. When he’s skating around the zone with the puck, he’s so deceptive it’s genuinely hard to figure out what he’s going to do next. His passing is really good too.

It’s like someone maxed out a player they made up in EA. Even the name - I mean, Macklin Celebrini? What is that?!

I have a ton of respect for Rutta, and he grinds it out even today for the Sharks, but he's well past his prime and I imagine it has to be kind of tough for someone like Mukh to come into the NHL and, as he tries to get up to speed with the new level, be partnered with someone who is that slow and has, uh, not so great puck skills.

Muhk looks pretty much like he’ll be a good middle pair Dman. Most likely a 3 on the high side.

Fourgiev looks worse then late stage Jones, hopefully Speer can miracle him into tradable by the dead line.

Kovalenko skates just like his old man looks like he could potentially end being a steal in this deal

He's got so many exceptional skills, and some of them are also driven by an elite mental game--which I alway say is what can separate a very good player from a genuine superstar. It's wild to watch someone like this on our team at just 18 years old.

It's also kind of astounding that Celebrini doesn't have more power play goals yet because he's so dynamic on the man advantage. But he's been robbed/so close on a few occasions, I can't help but think--as crazy as it sounds--that his 41-goal pace right now is, if not a little bit low for how good he's actually been, pretty much an honest assessment of how good he's been. As a f***ing 18 year old!

SNOG announcement

Got through the boring game tonight and then finished catching up on this more important game.

I think you couldn't do that to Gecko right now. He was so good in most of the games before und he took a big step at his development. Everybody has bad games, but this seems to be a bit hard for him.
So what...
Sharks 4 (Mack 3 [2] / Gecko)
Blues 3 (Kyrou / Holloway / Buch)

Congrats @MackAttack71 on your 2nd SNOG of the season!

It seems be a new thing the kids are doing come in sell the shot hold it a little longer to pull the goalie off angle and then make it look like an easy snipe. McDavid does it a lot, it is fun to watch

If muhk can be a solid 2nd pair (potentially with some offensive upside) that would be awesome.

The Sharks are allergic to having color guys who don't hate the guts of every moderately skilled player we have. I don't know what's worse, Drew whining about Eklund or Hedican whining about Karlsson.

Melker did kinda suck most of the time though.
