The issue isn't Quick not stopping Kane there - that's a world class play that beats most goalies in the league.

The issue is that being the third goal of the night scored on Quick, with the first two being softies. You're allowed to get beat once, even twice per night by world class plays, but when you're padding that with a softie or two, well, you have a goaltender with a save percentage below .900.

Hate to say it but Quick is only getting the 1a/1b treatment because of his past success and huge contract. Remove those two, a guy who has a sub-.900 SV% should be a backup at best. You can blame the defense all you want, but then again, why is Bernier having a much better year? Sure, his numbers come from a smaller sample size, but look at all his starts. Only one game in which he allowed more than 2 goals. Quick has done that a bunch of times. Please don't attack me for simply saying Bernier is the better goalie this year.

Quick will be number when our defense can support his style, Bernier doesn't need the support as much cause of his style. Bernier is the most effective goalie for our current situation, but when we are 100% its all Quick.

You guys act like this past success was years ago. It wasn't that long ago and he just played two games where he gave up no goals and one goal. Of course then once Quick dares to not stop an amazing finish, it's time to throw him under the bus.

It's overreaction what some of you are talking about, acting like Quick should be traded or benched. Wishing his past success away doesn't help matters. And it seems like a lot of you have been doing so.

Quick has been, will be fine when he has guys stop playing like morons in front of him. Frolik was left to streak alone into the slot, Kane the same. I mean come on. Bernier has been doing better so far this year but he is not going to carry the load for this team, never will be allowed to either. Playing him a lot now would only boost his trade value. Whether you like it or not the guy who carried this team on his back to a Cup win is going to get a lot of slack. Either you have loyalty or you don't.

Quick tried his stupid poke check on a skilled player. He tried it last time against Mason Raymond. He got burned both times. He can't be faulted for the situation he's in, but going for the poke check and failing twice in those situations should perhaps clue him in that players can read that move a mile away. It's easy to anticipate a poke check from a goalie, and if he loses that battle, the chances are he's going to get burned.

I never blame the goalie on a breakaway or clearly a one-on-one situation. I think you are grasping at straws.

Last time we played these guys we got stronger as the game went on. I'm hoping for the same this third period.

Meanwhile Corey Crawford is becoming Corey Crawford again. I am expecting at least a couple of more goals by the Kings in the third.

With the defense being this erratic, if you gave the two goalies equal starts, its closer than you think. Not saying Quick didn't have a bad start.

But.

I question anyone who looks at a goalie and points to his seasonal save percentage instead of the current situation. He's been great the past couple weeks. Should he be glued to the bench because of what he was doing in February?

So any time there is a breakaway we should always expect a goal and be okay with it? You expect goalies who are supposed to be among the best to bail the team out once in a while. Kane's a world class player, not surprised he scored there. I'm just flabbergasted that Quick tries a poke check on a player like Patrick Kane. He took himself out of the play by doing that and made life easier for Kane.

So a deflection in the slot and a breakaway goal from arguably the best breakaway artist in the league is all Quick's fault? Just want to make sure I'm getting this right. I'm sure it would be 3-0 if only Bernier were in net :shakehead

For the record, I don't blame Quick. Yes, those are tough saves to make. But what separates great goalies from good ones is the ability to make saves you're not supposed to make. Quick did that last season. Not so much this season. But I have faith he'll be fine. Not worried.

Softies? I give up. You guys are something else.

What are you on about? Did you not read what I wrote? Who said anything about trading Quick? Oh yeah? Am I really overreacting? I'm just stating facts. His SV% is below .900. Bernier's is in the .920s. Also, if you read any of my posts earlier this season, you should know that I kept saying Bernier should be traded. But right now, he's won me over. I didn't think he would play his heart out despite the fact that his days as a King are being numbered.

Oh and, I'm not acting like Quick's success happened a long time ago. It's obvious that he badly needs the defense to be back at 100%. So right now, he's looking like a system goalie and I don't have a problem with that as long as Deano keeps building this team through a strong defense.

You have a save percentage below .900% when nearly all the chances given up are good ones too. It's not like the D is pushing these guys to the perimeter where they flutter in shots. That is quite the problem.
