Sharks iced the best team they could today and they looked awesome.

I hope Burish and Handzus continue to sit out, even though that's 4+ million doing absolutely nothing in the pressbox.

Look at some of the other teams' forums.

When their team is bad, truly bad, the fans there celebrate individual performances but actually prefer losses to wins. No foolin', no hesitation.

Here, despite the huge thread where multiple posters called for tanking, a loss of games for a better draft position, etc...when the Sharks win, people are genuinely happy; when they lose, fans are genuinely sad.

I don't think people here will be able to bear a SJ team that sucks...

Not necessarily. It's difficult to watch a team lose if they've got such few prospects in the pipeline, they have so much talent currently on the ice, they've shown flashes of greatness by starting off the year 7-0, and they lose.

If they were a young team with a bright future, I don't think it would be as difficult to see them lose.

Tell that to Edmonton fans. 4 years and going strong!

I've loathed Edmonton since the Torres hit, but their team has been so badly mismanaged that even I'm starting to feel bad for them. Every summer when their fans are like "This is it! We're gonna be the next Blackhawks!" I shed a single tear for them.

Man I hate Perry. Glad Boyle got to drop the mitts with him. I was hoping for someone to cripple him though. ::(:
I am with ya....that was a clear lack of response from Boylrs mates....not cool. Boylr battles hard, he deserves someone to step up..

up by 3/4 somebody should have take a serious run at Bird Face...it is really a time for him to endure the same type of hit he dished out in Minny....

and BTW the NHL should be looking at the replay tonight...was it a headshot???

1. Perry sucker punched him.
2. No they aren't going to look at it.
3. Boyle stood up for himself. Which is what grown men need to to.

It's all about expectations. If you expect your team to be bad, or "rebuilding" it bugs you less. It's also about seeing improvement. If the team is bad but appears to be getting better, people will be happy. If the team is (or was recently) good, but seems to be getting worse, people are sad.

At least, that's the approach I take. We're just spoiled these days because the team HAD been good. And then started so damn good this season, that made it harder to take the losses too.

I assume we're done discussing how the Wingles, Marleau, Couture line needs to broken up... That is exactly what I hoped Wingles would be able to do in the top 6. It'll be interesting to see if he builds on this or if this was an anomaly. Marleau looks absolutely liberated playing with two fast guys. I can't believe how many chances and breakways and almost break aways they had. Love the talent distribution on the team now though.

Shep is really skating well. Is he signed for more than just this year? If not they need to fix that. Maybe he'll eventually fulfill his 1st round pick promise.

Clowe noticeably slowed down his line compared to last game. He played well and I prefer to keep him unless we get a great return but this needs to be his last season here unless we teach him to give up the puck quicker.

Nice to see Niemi get a shutout. If this team played like this more often this season he would have had a few.

great game. I really want to know what the heck is going on in Todd's head though. Why change the system after the first 7 games, why wait till now to change it back? It's freaking strange. Sharks again look fast and dangerous.

Wait.. what? Where did you hear that? That's insanity if it's true...

Speculation by on ice performance. I didn't get to watch today but the last game had a lot of stretch passes and stuff. It's kinda night and day in terms of offensive strategy.

The break out definitely changed a little. But to me it looks like they took the boat anchor (thornton and how he plays) off marleau and gave him a couple high energy guys. That line provided the spark and inspiration for the rest of the team.

I think it helps thornton to have Burns and Havlat because they don't mold to play like anyone else on their line. I think too many players (marleau included) change their game when put with Thornton because they see him as the offensive catalyst.

When this roster decides to play they really can be impressive.

If you ever prefer your team to lose, it's time to stop calling yourself a fan of that team.

Fans find a way to enjoy the down years too... I remember loving the last year they missed the playoffs when they fired Sutter. THey were bad enough that people gave away or sold for super cheap lower bowl tickets most nights outside the tank. I saw 20 games that year and spent less than $100. :D
