I'd rather stick something in my eye than have anything to do with Amazon. I wouldn't even give them my name or address. heh.

I only order anything online if its something I cannot get from retail stores and never, by using Amazon.

I like in person shopping. Being able to see the unbroken box something comes in, being able to handle it myself, not have electronics dropped on a porch in the rain etc without even ringing the doorbell. Online order and delivery is not a mode I like.

A lot of stores don’t even exist anymore where you can order certain things that you want. It seems. Amazon is almost the only option for some things. My time is also worth something so I will take the massive time savings over driving to 10 different stores to find the cork coasters in a specific size and width than the 10 seconds it took me to order them on Amazon with free shipping to a safe and secure UPS store down the street for my pick up. No theft!

I ordered a 128 gig SD card for my nintendo switch a few years back. They shipped me 10, I notified them and they told me to keep it. Was able to extend the memory of a few family members phones for free!
But I also had someone steal an Amazon package from the porch. They wanted a police report number to refund. It was a $15 door snake (or whatever you want to call the draft/sound blocker) so I just said forget and picked one up locally.
Now we have the choice to pick up the products in a locker locally.

We use Amazon (she does a lot more than I do), like you said, you can get things there that you can’t (or are nearly impossible to find) elsewhere

However, it’s honestly not that great, and has gotten worse, for things that you can get elsewhere. Often it’s more expensive and it’s also infested with crummy Chinese knockoffs (which are sometimes very good quality but not often). Those sorts of products end up being a step above Temu at best

I’m back in Canada. (f*** it’s cold and foggy here, fog from Coutts to Castor today). Icy roads from Hanna to home. AB private hwy mtce operators must be recruiting operators and management from Sask Highways, because holy shit they were equally bad. Still good to be back here though.

Oil wins this handily.

Oh, and the lake wasn’t frozen when I left. No swimming now until May.

Oh, and yay, my Amazon sub works in Canada (doesn’t work in USA even with a VPN, screw you Bezos.)

For sure I don't get the whole concept. Whatever isn't in a store I don't need, in many cases can make it myself. Majority of what is in stores I don't need. in general terms. Some things and purchases interest me. I'm very bad at consuming. Marketing means essentially nothing to me. Immune to it.

Also every store has online catalog and inventory available online. Theres been no need to drive to a store to see if they have something for 15yrs. Its all on there. If I need anything from a hardware store for instance 100% of their inventory including exactly how many of an item they have is all there including aisle and bay number. I'll go to such a store the same trip I'm buying groceries or something. Its no inconvenience and I even get to talk to some staff there that are knowledgeable in hardware and alternative purchases, fixes etc. I'm very DIY so hardware is one thing that interests me.

obviously with hardware stores I also get to hand select. If I had lumber ordered I'd want to return more than half of it. I do a lot of carpentry for instance and quality wood is only what you get if you make the effort to order pick yourself. Don't do that and you get the garbage lumber. Same really goes for groceries.

I mean, I respect the principles.

I will say though, Amazon has never done me wrong.

One time I ordered a high end video card for around 3k from them, and they sent me the wrong brand. They literally let me keep it and sent me the right one free of charge.

They've saved me tens of thousands of dollars compared to box stores at this point.
Not ever needing a high end video card saves you more. heh

Thats how I roll as I type this out on a 2012 computer.

My name is Brent. I’m an Amazon-holic.

I shop and buy way too much via Amazon. In the US, the amount of stuff that can be ordered and have it arrive 3-4 hours later to your doorstep, because it’s in a large urban locale, is mind boggling. Like I told my wife, Bezos figured out how to create the Xmas morning feeling as a 365 day a year phenomenon.

I like to support small biz and I do my fair share of such too, but the convenience, cost and inventory from Amazon is hard to compete against.

My fear is for when Bezos becomes a monopoly. When that day arrives, we all get what we deserve, for allowing it to happen, (except it will be cheaper on Prime Days, right?)

All ready for the big game tonight...

ummmm

Yeah. Thats the thing. I try not to support a business plan that REMOVES other options and is heavily geared to monopoly. These world domination firms are a problem.

Just comments on Prime telecasts as well does anybody really think they would continue to be good if they got more of the NHL contract? As per usual whatever entity has rights often ends up being worse or same production level. Prime are just interested in putting up a competitive telecast now further to trying to find an audience. They've been having some trouble finding it for NHL games. NHL viewership is down and some of the games aren't getting big numbers. I would wonder how Prime even see's the NHL as a good choice. Seems like its not paying off, I've seen all the ratings numbers.

I feel like we should win this, especially if Barkov isn't playing

But of course there's a luck factor, and we need our guys to bring it.

The weather conditions here in the province contributed greatly to this though. We had the freeze, rain, ice pellets and then snow combination that just makes for the worst road conditions, sidewalk conditions etc. Basically have to sand or salt everything. Any snow on top just covering up the glare ice and perfect curling sheet conditions... a few days here I figured I could just skate to the store.

I like the stream quality. Maybe it inspires Sportsnet to ramp it up a bit
Doubt it. Their national contract is up soon and TSN probably gets it next. That’ll leave SN with regional only (which is still a lot of games) but less incentive to spend more money on making the broadcast better.

Bell media is rumored to be struggling financially.

They're unlikely they bid for the national hockey rights in Canada.

Anyone else tuned into the game a little early like me and wondering why the volume is so f***ing low? My volume is 2x the normal level.. I worry my speakers are gonna blow out if they turn their volume back up.

Anyway, team is rolling and so fun to watch. Keep it up, show these f***ers we mean business and they should fear us if they make the Finals again.
