Where does that come from?

He was good when we got him last year. His season ended up with what looked like a pretty bad ankle injury.

This year he had a bad camp, and apparently still plays bad. Doesn’t sound like pouting to me…. Either he’s still recovering, or he’s not ready.

Or he’s not great right now for whatever reason is going on in his life. Who knows?
Houle said he was his best player on the ice in the previous game so it was just a lackluster game.

It was just an off the cuff query stemming from this: Justin Barron doesn't seem open to the idea of playing for the Laval Rocket, and that could be a problem

It may mean something or it may not, hence the questions and not affirmations. Like you, no one really knows.

Last night, the D did a good job minimizing the serious threats. And Primeau was solid throughout the whole game.

The Ylonen, RHP & Belzile line was real good, particularly on the forecheck, forcing turnovers and creating chances. Ylonen could've had 2 goals easy, but credit to Hofer, who made big saves on those chances.

Barron didn't have a good game, but he had some specific moments where he was great in, particularly when he used his stick to stop the stick of the T-Birds player to tap the puck into the open net. Another moment where he laid a big hit to separate the puck from the opponent.

Trudeau does not look like a guy who was playing in his second career pro game. He reminds me of Harris because both of them play a poised game, are mobile, and hardly make any mistakes. Both of them are just starting their pro careers and both play like they've been in the league for 2 years already.

Potentially the injury suffered at end of last season means he didn't get the summer training that was required. In which case, he needs time to get going.

I would keep him down there for the year, give him another off-season and see what he brings next year.

I was at the game yesterday. Norlinder didn't impress me that much. I liked Leskinen and Trudeau. Bowey was good but as expected from a fringe NHLer and veteran.

He just seems soft and never really just goes at anything. Like, watch Guhle on the puck, he's a pitbull. I watch Barron and it's like.. ho hum, whatevs. Maybe i'm judging him too hard since I've been a Guhle homer for a couple years.
As of right now, he just....exists. He's...there. Not proactive. Plainly reactive. Another one who just seems sorry to bother.

Would have preferred a 1st too. 2024 1st over a 2nd. Helleson is definitely better.

We'll see how the year goes, but if Jets want Barron for Dubois I'd say yes. Mailloux is a much better prospect.

Holy shit I'm NOT trading Mailloux for PLD, knowing PLD will come anyway.

Barron, where do I sign?

You don’t want to trade Mailloux but want to trade Barron.

Both are the same kind of D by the way, you guys don’t like Barron being nonchalant with the puck, Mailloux is the same, don’t like that Barron isn’t overly physical, Mailloux is the same.

I’d even say that Barron as more hockey IQ than Mailloux and he is better defensively.

I bet you 100$ Mailloux in 2 years is seen as a better player than Barron. Accept the bet if you want.

I would not trade 1 Mailloux for 2 Barron.

Edit: nevermind, your account is too young. My bet stands for any old-timer poster.

I'm not sure he needs a full year, but definitely give him the time he needs there. He's still very young for a dman and has all the tools.

I also think Mailloux has insane potential, but he's played, what, 16 games in two years? Let's give it time.

If they both reach their potential, I also think Mailloux will be a superior player... but if they both reach their potential, we'll have a great D corps!
