GDT: Game 29: Wild @ Coyotes

Are you kidding me? We got completely outplayed tonight. Minnesota hit six posts by my count tonight. We literally won this game off of pure luck.
Ohh, you took the bait!

A win is a win, don't get me wrong, but if there's people out there who are actually optimistic about the way we played tonight, your face will end up like Domi's when reality hits.

Minnesota would say they beat themselves but this is what every team says when they lose. The game is about mistakes and where you make them. Minnesota made more critical mistakes in their own zone then we did last night, that is why they lost.

I don't think the team is getting lucky breaks or lucky wins, they work hard and deserve the win.

If we were playing like hot garbage, as you claim, we wouldn't be a .500 team, and we outplayed a few of the teams we lost to, so we could be on a 29 game streak, just saying... We made plenty of mistakes, I agree with you there, and Minnesota had control for most of the game. They made a few more "critical" mistakes, why they lost, all I am saying. I agree we need to be better though but we are way better then we are getting credit for at this point in the season.

Really disagree. This team is a mess. The record, as it is now, is a miracle.

Oh, that post is literally copied and pasted from another poster's earlier ramblings with very, very minor modifications... It's frightening.

I'm in awe of Todd Walsh's ability to bring a room down. We just won! In overtime! 3 stars announced! Time for a quick interview on the PA with one of the players!

"... and with Mikkel Boedker. Mikkel, without Shane Doan, without Martin Hanzal, without Mike Smith ... how did you come away with two points here tonight?"

Stole this one, but the standings only count "Wins" not "Wins You Actually Deserved." Go Yotes Go.

It was really quite amazing, we hung in there and got the win. I started seeing this as a possibility around maybe midway through the second.
Did we need some luck and bounces? Sure did, but let's face it we had plenty go against us on the latest road trip and tonight we find the tilt in our favor - it's how it works. This doesn't change our incredible lack of being able to control the puck, or our skill level being well below that of the Wild, but credit the boys for hanging in there, capitalizing on Wild mistakes and Linback for another great game, just like his last start at GRA.
Also worth noting is that the boys played exactly as they needed to get the win in the third, particularly the last ten minutes.

RIP Domi's face

As if inheriting his dads face wasn't enough

That sentence needs to be quoted.

I was at the game among too many Wild fans, so it was nice to get out of there without having to resort to taunting their Vikings.

I'm with Del on the way the Wild played after the first period. All sorts of bad passes and own-zone mistakes by them as well, and some were actually due to a decent forecheck. We did get gifted on that high stick in the overtime, though.

I'm going to admit that I watched maybe a total of 20 minutes of the five road losses, so my reference point for Grossmann may be when he wasn't so terrible. What I saw tonight was David Hale bad, and not just the one that caused the Wild's only goal. He just looked like he was in over his head at least a dozen times -- just jaw-dropping that he's even in the league. I know, Stone has no business in a first paring, but he can make an occasional basic play. Has Grossmann's play been this bad for the past five games?

Grossman has actually been extremely solid / reliable - tonight however, was by far his worst game as a Coyote.

Ok I'm sorry to ask this again..... Does anyone know where I can get the coyotes flag that looks like the AZ state flag with the coyote in the middle? I saw some fans at the game with one. I'd really like to get one.

True. A big portion of the games we won this season were luck.

I don't really believe in luck. We beat the wild tonight and that will be just as true in 20 years as it is tonight. (I'm probably still a doom guy though)
