Kesler had a great game.

However, I find it laughable posters come out and try to deflect all of the criticism after this 2 goal game.

Prior to this game he had 1 goal in 11 games. He still deserves the criticism.

The one goal being on a 2-man advantage. Yes, having a two goal game early in the season can drastically change your "on pace for." Kesler's even-strength goal today is his first since October; it's great for him to bump it but it remains a concern.

So the trick is....we gotta dress up as fans of the other team at home so they think its an away game!

It is kinda silly, but after the win I went to go look at their record to see if this is finally another regulation win against a +.500 team (which would be, I think their 4th?) But no, Carolina was under .500 by 1 game; d'oh! Oh well.

We've had one of the tougher schedules in the NHL thus far so gotta pick up these points during this weaker run, even if it doesn't re-instill confidence that we can beat the big boys.

You're not going to get any argument from me that they've struggled against good teams (at least in terms of results), but dismissing wins against weaker teams is silly. 11 of LA's 16 wins have been against teams that are outside the playoffs right now (compared to 10 of 14 for Vancouver) but you don't hear people writing off their record.

Well, we're not LA fans :)

LA does seem fairly similar to us in a few ways.

Really liked Lack's composure after surrendering 2 goals in 10 seconds. Didn't seem to get to him and he shut the door the rest of the way. Just like when he came in relief earlier in the year, surrendered a goal on his first shot then looked excellent. Doesn't appear to get rattled from what we've seen of him.

I think you have to ride Eddie until he loses a game.

Lack- 2.41GAA, .911SV%
Luongo- 2.41GAA, .911SV%

I thought Lack was matching Lou save for save...

I'll never understand this whole,"oh beat another bad team, cool" the hell are they supposed to do, try to lose on purpose? Maybe we should just only try against +500 teams, I mean who cares about the rest right? Give it the end of the year and if we're out of a playoff spot, people, will be complaining about how we couldn't beat weaker teams for extra points. Its ridiculous. Get the points wherever you can against anybody possible. "Good teams" or not.

Loving bieksa and sestito right now. Bringing it every night. Good to send a message to Kassian to wake up hopefully he responds.

Lack needs to play more. He is playing as well as Luongo and making more timely saves and shutting the door. Sure, it's only one game but he needs the chance to keep going. Keep both goalies fresh, ride the hot one and create some internal competition between the two. Luongo generally responds well to that. We can't afford to keep the hotter goalie on the bench just because of contract or seniority.

Sedins were pretty invisible this game. Secondary scoring is the reason we won. Kesler showed up and played very well, hopefully snapping his slump.

By the numbers.

Shots on goal - 31-30 for the Canes. Kesler with 5 shots and Higgins and Daniel had 4 shots each. Bieksa top Dman with 3 shots.

Canucks PK great as Canes were 0/6 after the hiccup against NYR.

Canucks PP - 1/3 - 5 straight games with a pp goal.

22 blocked shots for the Canucks to 10 for the Canes. Hamhuis and Burrows each with 3. The friendly fire to the head on Kesler and Burrows do not count.

Hits 26 to 35 for the Canes. Dale Weise with 5 hits and Booth with 4 hits. Edler led the way on D with 3 hits.

Faceoff wins 34-35 in favour of the Canes.

Hamhuis and Tanev -2. Garrison and Edler +2

Hamhuis with 3 giveaways. :shakehead

Lack 28 - 30 .933
Ward 27 - 30 .900

It's pretty obvious you don't understand....it's not impressive to come away with a win against bottom feeding teams, if you are a good team it should be expected to happen more often than not. I'll be impressed when we start to win against the better teams in the league.

someone already mention that LA wins majority is also against non-playoff team. And I sure every team have the same kind of record

Lack 28 - 30 .933
Ward 27 - 30 .900

This was the difference right here. Lack outdueled Ward - something Luongo hasn't been able to do very much this season.

I still can't believe Henrik Sedin is 11th in the NHL in points, considering he's a playmaker on a line with Burrows and his zero goals. Henrik is easily this teams best player IMO. Nobody else even in the running.

Edler was not a trainwreck on the right-side. That is a near miracle. I really would prefer Hamhuis/Tanev get split up. They have booth been horrible more often when paired together. Suffice it to say the minutes are finally catching up to Tanev. He is not ready to play in the top four, though I hope this is only a slight bump in the road.

As per usual this season, Bieksa is the catalyst for our defense. That will never cease to amaze me.
