Yeah, it's definitely weird. I'm wondering if we'd benefit more from copying how TOR runs their top powerplay unit with Matthews and Marner on their forehands on the left and right sides, respectively. We'd need a different LHS than Kreider to fill that Matthews role, while Panarin would obviously be Marner in this scenario. Mika can be in the bumper position in the slot.

Plus, I think we'd benefit for how this promotes a high-to-low approach rather than forcing everything laterally. They can't keep running out that top unit from last year if they're going to change how it's deployed. Taking Kreider away from the netmouth screen makes absolutely no sense and is a part of why their PP shooting% has dropped.

Gauthier has practically zero chance to be on the team in 3 years unless, and this is gonna make some heads explode, he's a David Quinn project who's tough loving him and he goes to bat for him organizationally

He seems like a really good option as 3rd line RW and 2 PP net front. It would require Buch to be traded or Kravtsov not make it with the team.

It's hard to not like his tools, he just needs a legit consistent top 9 role.

If you're going to force pucks to 2 players on the powerplay - Panarin and Zib, then Zibanejad needs to play the bumper role. That creates space for Panarin to get one-times off, while keeping Zibanejad a threat in a scoring position.

This is how Ovechkin is constantly open on the power play for one-timers, because the circle is actually less of a threat (regardless the shooter), than the bumper high danger spot. So if you're only looking for 2 people to shoot, then make Zibanejad the bumper role.

2 of his penalties I wouldn’t criticize him. One was necessary to save a goal and the other was a made up rule were you can review missed calls bc G-rox laid on the ice long enough.
