I'm just amused with everyone who thought that DJ had no system, and that bringing in a new coach would insta-fix everything.

The issues under DJ were far deeper than "dumb coach, no system". I've had gripes about how DJ dealt with accountability and ice time management for years. Ultimately, Jacques Martin is just a babysitter and a wakeup call for the players. There's a chance they'll bounce back this season, but it's more likely we won't see major change until we get our new coach in here in the off-season.

Who, exactly, thought that bringing a new coach would "insta-fix" everything in the first game?

Along with a new system without any practices?

He shoulder checks and knows there’s an opponent behind him, if he lets the puck through Arizona keeps that puck, maybe it’s a look at an open net. He’s just trying to settle it down. I watch that and see crookshank and Chychrun just reacting to the puck, rather than their responsibility.
