Thread on the main boards is open season on the CBJ.

I see nothing wrong with the thread. Mixed reviews, as there should be. A couple of silly opinions, but par for the course.

Reality? We need to finish something like 13-6-3 to squeak in with the #8 seed.

We really need to quite worrying about what others think, unless somehow you think having a chip on your shoulder, as a fan, somehow helps the team.

It doesn't help the team, but it is nice to throw in a 'told you so' or 'look at us now' at all the haters.

I agree. We're still upstarts to some of the old guard.

This team is so damn fun to watch right now, I don't even care. This may be more fun to watch than the playoff team or when the 10-11 team played well because the expectations were so low, yet they bring it each night.

Have to admit, if the CBJ prevent Detroit from making the playoffs, I will consider this season a success.

I said this after the first three games...

...having no idea we'd end up 4-0-1 against them. :amazed:

The Detroit GDT is not pretty.

 I can understand why... The thing is, the Wings are not the same team of the past... They have padded their conference seeding with almost 10 CBJ points every year for a decade...

Times might being changing, but there is a lot of hockey yet to be played.. That said, the current CBJ trend could sniff the playoffs if it continues.

They look a lot like the 2000-2001 team but much younger..

After 48 games last year, the eighth-place team had 55 points; that would mean the Jackets would have to go 15-6-1 to get in if that same yardstick applies this year.

Not trying to be a Donnie Downer - just pointing out the mountain that still needs to be climbed.

I hate the fact that 12 of our last 17 games are on the road. That will be brutal. I am going to enjoy this while it lasts, and no matter what happens the rest of the way, this domination of the Wings will make this season a success.

Agree, as I said.... if the CBJ can continue the current trend (which is going 6-2-2 as they have in their last ten games) they could have chance to sniff the playoffs... Doubtful but possible..

I was thinking this tonight. This team is playing BETTER than the playoff team.

Not to mention 12 of the last 17 games are on the road and we are 3-8-1 on the road. Is this fun? Sure. But when pretty much everyone has games in hand on us it is hard. We are really in a position where we can't really afford to lose any home games.

The road is scary no doubt, but even at home the CBJ are only .500... Again, based on the current team (last ten games) I don't think the road or home are going to make much of difference if all out checking is the way they continue to play and win...

It's not like the Jackets are winning with super stars out there that feed off the home crowd.. just sayin... I could be totally wrong though.

Holy cow. Just watched the dvr'd game, what an effort. Bob is making key saves to keep the team in it. Filthy shootout with Joey and Calvert.

What a refreshing change from last year when the team would hang their heads like Charlie Brown whenever even the slightest thing didn't go their way.

And the best part about it - everyone is carrying part of the load. It isn't just one guy picking up the entire team and carrying it on his back.

Definitely agree that we've got a mountain to climb, but I don't think using past years point totals are a good indicator because no one is getting points off the East this year. Every point earned is at the expense of another Western Conference club.

Point being we basically still control our own destiny, more so than usual anyway, because if we keep playing good hockey, we're going to keep beating teams in front of us. We don't have to worry as much about staying hot and not gaining any ground like could happen in the past (not to us, but ya know...).

Most likely the team will finish right around .500. They are not a good team they are not a bad team. They are in transition. They are a lot of fun to watch, so enjoy it.

They will probably pick somewhere in the 4-8 range, and we will find a good player there. And then two more later in the first. Whoever we pick isn't going to be in Columbus next year anyway. We won't be drafting next years top line no matter where we pick.

The framework is there, so enjoy it. Enjoy the success and the growth and development that' s going to be happening. Should be a lot of fun.
