Look at how long it took them to gave their "3rd" goalie a chance last year... Husso and Reimer were atrocious and yet they took forever to give Lyon a chance... and then it was obvious he was the only good goalie on this team. They know Husso sucks, yet they'll probably make sure to delay Cossa's chance at a start for as long as they can in hope that one of Lyon/Talbot come back. Man, Lalonde f***ing sucks.

Unless Husso is lights out tonight (yeah I know, he won't be and if lightning strikes he''le get hurt before he pulls it off twice in a row) I think you have to go with Cossa in Ottawa. This gives him a chance to go through the game day routine with big club, first.
Would it be bad to root for Husso getting yanked? Asking for a friend.

Best case scenario is that Husso stays healthy and plays capably. That's what we should be routing for.
Jesus Christ, how did it come to this? Ras on the top line despite him sucking more often than contributing, the 2nd line might as well have two 4th liners on it with the way Compher is playing, and the 4th line is scrub land despite it costing like $10 million.
Then you have a horrifying 2nd pairing and a 3rd pairing of guys who are 7th defenseman on most clubs.

I'm at least happy they kept Tank, Kasper, Berggren together. I'd swap Cat with Ras at minimum beyond that, and make the Compher line the 3rd line.
I missed the last game, did Compher step up at all? Copp gets blasted with regularity here but I see him still giving us exactly what he's been giving us. We can ask him to go out and play a hard, defensive game for 15 minutes and he'll do it. Compher has looked like Nielsen when Nielsen started falling off a cliff.
Big game for the Bench Petry movement. If Chiarot/Holl hold their own, it'll start making the argument to either bump Petry to the third pairing or to the pressbox a little easier.
And we need to see Ras do something with this opportunity.

My hope is that he plays well and Cossa plays well if he gets his chance. Then a string of goalies get hurt and someone trades for Husso (ill take future considerations)

Compher was still Compher, rather invisible besides him losing faceoffs. Still don't know how he got two assists against the Devils.

Yeah I don't know what's up with Compher but he may have leapfrogged Copp in terms of spacegoat contracts. Compher's not even winning faceoffs these days.

The bolded seems like a no brainer, that could be a gem of a second line. It would be a pretty small line which many NHL coaches seem to avoid at all costs but Kasper plays as hard as anyone, Berg has pretty good compete, and Cat does well for being a manlet. While they aren't going to be pushing guys around I don't think the lack of size would necessarily hurt them either. That would unfortunately leave the top line with probably Tarasenko or Ras, but we cant have it all. One of those guys just needs to show some compete when given the chance and the top 6 could be sunshine and rainbows.

All of the chatter preseason about what a special thing it would be if all of the Wings' Cs were UofM products (Larkin, Compher, Copp, Motte) sure faceplanted right out of the gate. Larkin, obviously, is the Wings' most important C, but would be an above-average 2C on a contender, the other three have been completely useless.
As a Spartan grad, I would love it if I never had to listen to Daniels slobber over another UofM player again.
