What does the refs knowing the players are tired have to do with calling penalties? Rivers is so bad

Nothing. The tired players hold, hook, or trip opponents to prevent breakaways or odd-man breaks that would have happened because they couldn't keep up with them, and they get called for penalties.

The Blues played a little better in The 2nd Period, but, The Flyers are still skating better and getting more good scoring chances. The Blues will need to open up their game more to score some goals. But that might allow The Flyers to score more, too.
