Well that was a rewarding game. A real preview of things to come with Eklund, Smith, Askarov, Zetterlund, and Macklin putting a stamp on this game.

I was happy for Kunin for finally burying a breakaway, so he can at least face himself in the mirror.

Hopefully Askarov can, like, find a bit of chill on those adventures into the trapezoid when the entire opposition is setup in the zone :eek3::pullhair:

Even with all the points, I thought Macklin’s best play was late in the third when he curled to the halfboards, attacked the slot, and then chipped an insane pass through two defenders to a wide open Zetterlund all alone in front of Rittich. Zetterlund didn’t score, but Jesus, I watched the pass like 6 times; the hands and touch on the pass where truly amazing.
Askarov seems like the kinda of young man who, in about 3-4 years, will calm down and do fewer risky things haha

So when Kunin came to the Sharks he was advertised as a shooter that scores goals but does little else good. For his tenure till now he's just been not scoring and not being good at anything else. Finally we're seeing the scoring he was touted as having.

Was a last minute decision to attend the game and boy was it worth it. Sneak peak at the future of this team. Might have been one of the best times I’ve had as a Sharks fan in some time. Eklund, Smith, Celebrini and even Kunin lighting up LA. Liljegren, Walman and Ferraro all putting in work. Askarov getting his 1st win. What a night. This one was for Jumbo.

So all this preaching about shooting more and they end up with… 21 shots.
If you can't shoot more, shoot better.

But honestly, it was probably due to not being able to possess the puck enough as much as it was about shooting the puck when you have it. Plus they had a well above average number of breakaways for this team.

When's the last time the Sharks scored five in a period? For playoffs it has to be the 5 against Nashville in G1/2016...in 2013 they had 6 against Edmonton in the first period. 2018 they beat Philly 8-2; maybe they did it there.

Yes, first five-goal-game from a single player. Can anyone guess who has the first four-goal game? Hint: player was not born in North America.

On top of that, who has the record for most goals in a period? Hint: he was an assistant captain for the Sharks at one point.

The caveat being that my memory could be wrong. 90% sure...

record for one period: Was it that out-of-nowhere Marleau 4-goal 3rd period against COL?

Hertl’s was before that, in his rookie year. There has to be someone who did it in the early/mid 90s though, with how much goal scoring there was pre-trap.

Edit: nvm, he said one period. My money is still on a 90s player.

There was high scoring because good teams feasted on weak ones. Unfortunately, the Sharks were the latter. Though it was a 90s guy who was first to 4 goals in a game (post-trap as well!).

Very good game! Happy for the team and the Sharks fans!
It was the perfect game to play without our clear number 1 veteran forward in Granlund, it was a message to the fans that the young guns are getting behind the wheel.

Celebrini is HIM. Can't say enough about him, he is just going single-handedly help this team to success.
Smith with 2 points, love it. Slowly but surely Will Smith is starting to feel it.
Eklund is consistent, I love that he put the work and is getting rewarded for it.
All but Ceci from our defence got a point tonight, so that's a real positive.
Ferraro you get a positive mention, very good job. He was probably reading the boards and took it to his heart to show what he got.
Askarov, oh Askarov. Very nice to get his first SJ win with his 2nd SJ start, many more to come.
Probably forgot to talk about someone, but it was team effort. Impressive to do it without Granlund.

I hope to see more consistency through the next 3-5 games, don't need to win em all necessary but if they do get wins I'm all for it.
