Will people stop downplaying San Jose already. If you don't see that they're a good hockey team right now you're simply not paying attention.

Not defending the record on this trip but that narrative needs to stop.

3 out of 6 points on the road trip is not great, not terrible. But we're threading water. We need to string more wins together.

1-1-1 after the 3 game road trip. Not too bad..

Big game against the Wings on Thursday. Good chance to pass them in the standings.

Staios please pull the trigger on a trade for a D. Doesn’t have to be a world beater, just better than Hamonic. JBD is so much better

Their 5 on 5 underlying numbers are objectively garbage and the only time they looked good was in their game against us.

Spin whatever that means anyway you want, those are objective facts.

Brady Thachuk post-game in L.A. and Anaheim:

“I only care about winning”

These are the statements that make me worry. 8 years man. #FreeBrady

Once Brady has two goals in a game we can forget about him passing the puck. He'll shoot everything trying for the hatty.

Yeah that sucked. I think in general he's not good at creating much for himself or others.

Look at all the people bashing the powerplay. What did our powerplay look like tonight? Tkachuk left wide open to the side of the net, puck goes to him and he a) shoots it or b) holds it a little too long and passes it back to Stutzle or Sanderson who need to start skating to create movement from the PKers again.

Part of that is on the coaches for their scheme but the other part is Brady Tkachuk being wide open and thinking taking it to the net is his best play. The Ducks obviously felt him doing that was their best play and we fed into it and never scored on the PP again.

It’s terrible considering the teams we played
I mean, LAK are one of the best home teams in the league, and SJ is a far better team (when Celebrini is in the lineup) than most are willing to admit around here,

I still think expectations should have been set at 4 pts, so I'm disappointed, but I'm more concerned that we keep shooting ourselves on the foot than with how many pts we got on the road trip

Might as well stick this here. We need a .600 record until the end of year.

Again, LA played 3 games in 4 nights and we were desperate. That is a game you NEED to have or at least outplay them in the 3rd period. We had two days off and they still crushed us.

Every team in the NHL is good, but you need to win. We also suck against the bad teams too. We lost against Montreal and got outplayed by both San Jose and Anaheim.

I don’t think it’s that people are underrating teams like the Sharks or Ducks… it’s that they’re overrating the Senators.

We’re in that class of teams, so it should be no surprise that these games could’ve gone either way.

Anaheim, San Jose, Philly, Columbus, Seattle… that’s our peer group.

We could finish anywhere from 22-29 in the league this year. But playoffs? Let’s be honest about that. It’s not happening.

We have the next 4 and 5 of the next 6 games at home, I wanna be optimistic that we can string some wins together to get back into the wild card race, but maybe I'm being naive.

Will Staois make a move?
Yes, for sure but that doesn't imply soon. Many GM's (not just Staios) are convinced if not enamored with the merits of their decisions, past and go forward. This past summer was a point where, although we acknowledge he inherited a mess, the team transitioned to mostly his by virtue of his numerous changes. Takes a hell of a lot of convincing to admit something may not be working, for outcomes (reality) to overtake expectations (hope/desire). Quite understandable really.

Not convinced changes will happen quickly given all we hear preached at press conferences is "patience", "consistency" and "we believe" comments. This does not mean management truly believes this 100%, but it is what is being sold. Much more could be happening behind the scenes, but few people who manage anything are among the very first to give up on a decision, a plan, admit something may not have been the best decision. Unfortunately things often have to progress to dire before there is sufficient motivation for change. Everone's definition of what constitutes dire varies like the weather.
