Hoping for a better performance tonight. I’ve got tickets for the Friday rematch if anyone is going.

At this point I’m not even sure what I’m looking for. Even if we win 5-1, even if Laf and Kakko score and the PP is clicking… the team isn’t going to change the way they play. We don’t have a game breaker who controls play. It’s supposed to be the nearly 12M bread man, but he doesn’t do that. I’m talking about a Kaprizov, MacKinnon, Kane, Marner type and Bread is just way too passive and perimeter. We have no engine offensively, and we don’t have the speed or tenacity to do it by committee either. We’re a boring f***ing team. Fox is the closest thing we have to an offensive catalyst with the way Bread plays these days, but Makar has Mack, Rantanen, etc. up front. We don’t have one player who impacts the game on the level they do. We are the blandest offensive unit imaginable. Unseasoned white meat.

This is going to sound preachy, but I don't care.

The only thing separating this team from the one this time last year is goaltending. A .935 Shesterkin lets in 32 goals as opposed to the 44 this .913 Shesterkin has. Halak has been just bad enough to lose every game.

Yes the PP is underperforming right now. But it's actually statistically right around where it was at this time last year.

The reality is that just like in 2015 we have a decent roster with some serious flaws. The type of flaws are different from that group, but each roster requires a goalie playing a Vezina finalist level in order for us to be serious cup contenders.

Goaltending matters. Philadelphia lost the cup finals in 2010 because, and only because, they had an AHL goalie at the helm. NYR can't win with league average goaltending, because we haven't drafted well enough or managed the cap well enough to have four line three pairing depth. That's just the reality.
They have drafted well enough, they just don't have any clue how to develop forwards. It's a joke. Like 28 other teams in the league would be salivating over Lafreniere and Kakko and giving them all the opportunities on the ice in every situation. We know this because that's what every other team does. The whole cliche about "hockey's different here" is 100% accurate. Rangers will NEVER properly rebuild. Never. And they will always suffer the consequences because of it.

"Just show us your skill," Gallant said of his message to Kravtsov. "Show us your talent. Show us your work ethic. We talk about what kind of players you want on our hockey team. We want them to play fast, we want them to play a 200-foot game, be responsible defensively and show us your talent."
Can everyone do that please?

Yea its my birthday tomorrow and i have tickets to the rangers v blues game on monday night. Honestly not even looking forward to it with how this team plays

Is anyone in the mood to watch a win or should we just continue to wallow in our self pity?

Would love to say we would win but we cant hold onto any lead, we cant mount any comebacks, Halak is in, and Ottawa is much better than anyone wants to give them credit for. We will watch, and we just expect the worst and hope for the best

Over/under on how many dives/per 60 for Timmy Stutz.

The second anyone pressures him:

He'll pull a muscle trying to open door to bench.

from the AIHL 2017 season (yes, Australian Ice Hockey League). One of our players was pushed into the opposition boards area during their line change and went head first into the open door to the bench and opened his face on the locking mechanism. Major penalties ensued and the incident is still a great source of animosity amongst the teams. The player, a Swedish import name of Sebastian Ottosen, came back from injury just in time for the playoffs.

Maybe it’s an omen….?
