Two of the bottom 6 average goals per game teams in the league going to head to head, one of them on a b2b with travel. This should be fun!

That said, I wasn't bored by the Canucks game. Frustrated, but not bored. It was gritty, and lacked talent and genuine pace, and Vancouver spent most of the game sitting back, but I appreciated the Bruins' effort, and the way they stuck to their task and were prepared to shoot, and it almost became perversely entertaining watching the Bruins find different ways to NOT get the puck in the net. I like seeing what Sacco is doing, and he's got the team playing with some sort of cohesion and pride again quicker than I had expected (although it turns out that Monty had likely checked out even more than I had thought).

But scoring, geez, it's hard work for this lot. First goal is going to be huge against the Islanders. Fingers crossed Boston can somehow jag one and then put the scoreboard pressure and their renewed defensive skills to work. Hopefully both teams at least come to play and are up for a scrap and we don't get a total pre-Thanksgiving snoozer. Good luck boys.

People were whining about how boring the Vancouver game was at the start? Hoo baby are you in for a treat tonight lmao. Let's break it down; Hopefully i don't intrude too much with this but i've actually been following the Islanders a weird amount because i started to see their weird ass record pop up in my feed

The Islanders to put it simply, are the Bruins lost brother. This team couldn't score if they were going to school in an 80's high school comedy. While they have been a bit more unlucky with injuries to their forwards (Barzal recently hurt, Duclair got hurt early in the season and gone for months), they weren't exactly doing much with them.

The rest of the team looks weirdly similar to how our boys have looked;

- The Islanders are currently 27th in the league in GF, only 5 ahead of the Bruins who are in 30th

- Both of these teams should be disqualified from the power play; the Islanders 12.7 percent conversion rate is ahead of only you guessed it, the Bruins at 12.4

- In 22 games this season, the Islanders have been either tied or leading at the second intermission in 16 of those games. In the six games where they were trailing after 40 minutes, their record stands at 1-4-1.

- When it comes to third periods, the Islanders have been outscored 33-20. In contrast, they have allowed just 26 total goals in the first and second periods combined. They’ve only scored a game-tying goal in the third period three times while conceding eight. Additionally, when holding a two-goal lead, they’ve allowed the next goal more often than they’ve scored it.

- The Islanders are 0-8-2 this season when scoring two or fewer goals. Despite stellar performances from their goalies—such as 30 saves on 31 shots against the Calgary Flames on Nov. 19, 24 saves on 25 shots against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Oct. 30, or Ilya Sorokin’s 29 saves on 30 shots against the St. Louis Blues on Oct. 17—they have failed to win these tight games, owning a 4-3-5 record in one-goal games.

- Back to Sorokin, he's been by far the Islanders best player bouncing back from his rough and tumble 23/24 in a big way. He's currently 5-5-3 (lol) with a gaa of 2.52 and a sv% of .917

The Bruins come into this being shutout an alarming 4th time in 23 games, scoring a total of 3 goals in their last 3 since Montgomery was canned.

Make no mistake, this game is going to turn heads. (Probably away from the screen, but hey still counts!) It legit might be the first game in league history to end in a tie despite the existence of the shootout. Sources say multiple Massachusetts area hospitals will be using this game in place of anesthetic due to its potency

Weirdly enough I'm actually not sure injuries would have made things much worse. Because almost every forward has been out of form or otherwise underperforming, it's hard to pinpoint anybody who's absence would be especially detrimental, and if the next guys in line aren't exactly great, the ones currently filling spots aren't setting the world on fire either. Pasta is still the most obvious one on this front, but even there his impact has been well-below the norm; Marchand I guess more from a leadership perspective than his general play; Kastelic because he has the most heart. Most of the rest are fairly interchangeable at present.

Still the injury luck is notable, even allowing for Hampus' knee, and it won't last forever. That run after the Flyers game on the 7th definitely gets tougher, and then heading into January it really doesn't let up. Sweeney can't just wait for the deadline this time. I don't want him doing something drastic yet, but he does need to do something, and soon. I'm not one of those people that thinks the Bruins MUST make the playoffs, but at the same time I think this roster, for all its struggles, deserves some help and at least some sort of attempted scoring boost so we can see just how much it might be worth investing in further, if at all, come the deadline.

Last years game in December against them was one of the more entertaining games of the season.

I love this league.

I thought it was a good game. They had tons of chances. They are putting in the effort. They look like a team. Eventually the goals will start to go in. On to the next.

I was thinking the same thing --- not saying they're going to average 4 goals a game the rest of the way, but they have been extremely unlucky as well.

I mean 7/10 the puck that hit Frederic in the foot in the crease last night ends up in the net -- last night it ends up under the goalie.

I don't know if Don can fix this....................... The Bruins today are the 2016 Red Wings and that retooling has not gone well.

Sadly, the offense looked perfectly fine last night. It didn’t seem like an effort or strategy issue to me at all. It was a talent issue. That part isn’t as easily fixed

The Bruins had some a grade chances last night. That goalie has a 1.62 GA for something along this line. Plus the Canucks who are one of the best shot blocking teams in the league. That was the type of game you want to see in the playoffs.
