I wish people here would be NHL refs, we’d never get penalized and the other team would have 17 per night.
You know what, though? NHL officiating, always problematic because human beings make mistakes, has clearly declined over the past ten plus years.
My brother Greg used to bitch constantly about it, and I would say, a] they're human, they make mistakes; b] it's an impossible job and a thankless one; c] good teams play through penalties and, overall, they balance out, and d] you go out and officiate.
Even so, officating in the NHL is poor. Why, I wondered?
Well, apparently there's been a shortage of mature zebra's, and they've had to hire greenies on the fly. I forget why, but I'm given to understand that's the root of the problem.
It's too bad, and extremely frustrating for all involved.
I f***ing hate Gary Bettman and the "league office." I hate the scumbag owners. Look at the scheduling. Look at "player discipline." It's a joke.
They hold our game, and the NHL, hostage to their garbage.
