You make some good points but it's way more than just a player issue here. Trotz took over a very bad Nashville team and it took him a while to get them to the playoffs nearly every year. Since 09 his teams have made the playoffs 10 time in 13 years, including a Cup and those 2 ECF appearances with a slow and plodding Isles team. He also won 2 Jack Adams awards recently. The guy can coach. We need to do something.I stand by my point that hiring Trotz would be a collassal overcorrection and overreaction.
"If success everywhere he goes" looks like this :
23 seasons.
1 Stanley Cup
9 missed playoffs
Only made ECF 2 other times, rest was 1st or 2nd round losses
Then success has a pretty low standard. To highlight, it took Ovechkin, Backstrom, Kusnetsov, Oshie and Carlson to win him a Stanley Cup in Washington. Hes either lost in the first 2 rounds or missed the playoffs in 20/23 seasons.
Thats a pretty low bar for success. Offense routinely suffers at the expense of defense under his system which bodes well for making playoffs but eventually runs thin when other teams start playing similar defense but find ways to score.
Our defense has now been atrocious under Quinn and Gallant and multiple different defensive assistant coaches. It may be a paying Trouba 8 million and using Hajek through multiple coaching regimes issue.
I for one and not on the Trotz train.
So like a NBA playerMiller is playing like a guy that desperately wants to get paid and is trying to do way too much instead of doing what made him successful in the first place.
The agida is going to kill me.Oy vey
That’s been the case since the season we signed Richards. This team is like a 40 year old Hollywood actress that keeps getting botox and face-lift thinking everyone else will see a hot 25 year old.
We have NMCs combined with high salaries and long terms. Trotz took mediocre teams without high paid star players and made them overperfom.
We have high paid star players that are underperforming. We just need them to perform as they should. We need a coach that is going to allow them to do that, not a coach that is going to kill the offense for expense of defense. It makes for regular season success but eventually when the other teams start playing similar styles they can stiffle Trotz teams limited offense while also scoring due to systematic tweaks that allow more offense.
Changing coaches is so you don't need to change all the players. Trotz with this roster still requires changing the makeup which A) defeats the purpose and B) we can't do because of the aforementioned NMCs
Something something something big hit. Something something something turnover. Something something something complete.Jacob Trouba inspirational timeout speech: ugh, rargh, nuh, burp.
