I hate Gallant as much as the next guy but has anyone considered that are players are simply not good at hockey?

They’ve played a lot better in the past for a sustained period of time, which leads me to believe it’s at least in major part a coaching issue.

One doesn’t preclude the other. The roster has peaked but isn’t terrible enough to give us a lottery pick; we’re full of terrible long-term contracts. Our coach offers no guidance and lets the players run the show. It’s the worst of all possible worlds.

Several of them are good at Hockey but overall they are a slow team and too many weak spots. They really outperformed their talent last year.

I thought the Rangers might have learned their lesson with giving the C to a defenseman after his best season in NY.

McDonaghs play curiously suffered after the C. Trouba, although he wasn't incredible last year, had his best season with us and has regressed back to bad bad since the C. Takes a special player to put his head down and go to work with the C for an original 6 team like NYR.

Messier of course. Jagr of course. These are all time great can't miss choices. Callahan comes to mind as a guy that didn't change how he played and just kept being him. The C didn't crater his mindset with pressure and his play didn't suffer.

Kreider should've gotten the C. You can't convince me otherwise. And I'm not a Trouba hater cause I think his physical presence is big for our backend and he likely does have leadership qualities in the room.

But he's just trying to do too much. It's like he had double hip or knee surgery he can't skate and holds the puck too long. Wasn't a great goal on Igor but the play starts with Troubas TO

What happened to this group? This is lazy, entitled crap like making the ECF against the odds gave them a free pass to the playoffs.

I can’t like Panarin. The points are great and he’s a goofball but he’s an infuriating player. Kreider is homegrown and the PP goals are nice, but he’s also a maddening player. Trouba and Miller look lost all of a sudden. The kids are not progressing. They’re taking baby steps but they’re not close to impact players.

I don’t know what this organizations problem is, but it’s getting to be very frustrating. The Devils may be a paper tiger right now, but they play with pace and creativity and come in swarms and every line contributes. If this game was just black jerseys vs white jerseys I would be rooting for whichever team the Devils were.
