I know Doan has been a Jacket killer, but I love the passion that guy has always played with. Tough to see a Warrior like that finishing his career with this group.

Had to work late, so could only keep track of the game via the phone alerts. Thought it was all over until got the alert that Wenny scored. Got to my car, and just missed listening to the SO winner. :(

These guys have got to start dominating these teams. They can do it. Post game on the radio was talking about how terrible the ice was, but that is no excuse because it affects both teams.

Still, where was the D? What, around 95 SOG combined, with 61 for the CBJ? Maybe like Doan said, Mike Smith is just one hot goalie right now, otherwise maybe this game is over early.

Will be there tomorrow, and really don't want to see a stinker.

Other than for a short while in the second period, the Jackets did dominate this team. In the first and third periods, it wasn't even close. Mike Smith just stood on his head and played an outstanding game to keep the Coyotes in it.

I do agree with you and wish that the Jackets were a little more consistent.

Not a commentary on tone but on content.

The team is flush with confidence.

True, they're really coming around. Reminds of me when the Cavs rallied from down 1-3 and eliminated the Splash Brothers in last year's NBA finals!

(ok, it's a stretch for the sake of a joke. I'll stop now)

Ironically, this team over the past six years reminds me me of the Tampa Bay Lightning from about 1998 on. Yes, Tampa Bay was my second favorite team back then.

I never really understood the flak CMac takes by a number of posters on here. I realize most of those taking shots at him before the game (and early on during) reversed their position by the end, but I have to mention:

Bob - $8.5 M salary - 20 games started - .929 save % - 2.08 GAA - 28 points for team (1.40/game)
Mac - $0.8 M salary - 3 games started - .930 save % - 2.03 GAA - 4 points for team (1.33/game)

He knows his role and he's doing it well. He and Bob seem to have a good understanding between them and work well together. Yes, Bob is going to get a ton of starts, but their pay reflects that and I honestly think Bob plays better when he's playing lots (yes, I know injuries are a concern). CMac seems to be able to come in on spot duty after many days off and pick up where he left off, which is a rather difficult skill for a goalie to have.

I will concede that CMac does appear to get worn down when he has to assume the lion's share of work when Bob has been injured. Hopefully that won't happen this year, but we got a couple of options in Cleveland if it does.

The kids are getting more playing time in Cleveland they would be as Bob's backup and I have no doubt one of them will fill the backup role next year. But, I've never had an issue with CMac during his time with the CBJ, and I hope he continues what he's doing for the rest of the year.

I had to work last night, so I couldn't watch it.. But, it's definitely interesting going through and reading the comments in order through the game.

C-Mac getting blasted on here for his poor play, calling up Korpi (who is struggling mightily in Cleveland) and Forsberg. Ended up helping get the win and possible consideration for 1st star of the game. I will admit in the one game I watched him previously, he didn't look too particularly sharp and had some juicy rebounds, but his stats are actually pretty good. Not sure what to make of it. Personally, I keep him up here this year for now and let Korpi/Forsberg hopefully sort out their game in the AHL. Not worried about next year, yet.

But, we ended up getting 2 points out of tonight again! This team is ridiculous in coming back.

I still can't get over how nerve-wracking and back-and-forth the OT was

Also nice new avatar SG :yo:

Thanks. Totally stole it from Dancing Kevin's Facebook page, so credit goes to him. Though I did make the head a little smaller and blur it a little :)

I haven't been one of the people saying much about CMac online, but I have previously.

My main issue is a fundamental opposition to the traditional Brodeur/Kiprusoff/Lundqvist model of a goalie starting 70ish games and having a spot check backup. In this model, McBackup is a fine addition, because he's been that guy his whole career. I don't think that's sustainable toward actually winning in this league, especially leading into the playoffs.

I'm much more in favor of the 1A/1B situation where you have two good goalies, one who can handle 50 or so starts, and the other handling 30. With Bob's health the last few years, I'm afraid the old model is going to lead us toward the same sort of injuries, if not playoff letdown someday. Plus, just looking at the difficulty of the trade market for goalies, it's hard to get good value because almost every team has a good goalie.

That being said, I don't make the decisions. If Bob can keep playing well and healthy, and CMac stays at this same quality of play, we'll be okay.

Is there some kind of study or even examples that fatigue from extended number of games rather than training makes someone more prone to injuries? Tim Thomas for example went 54/56 in games during one spectacular NHL lockout season in Jokerit. I doubt the number of games in a NHL season is calculated upon how much a single goalie can take so is too much 40, 60, 80 or 330 games over a season...

Is a goalie who could go from potential number one to a less starts destined second choice (Bobrovski's stunt double) mentally in that much better place over someone who has already accepted their duty as a back-up? I believe holding that mental fortitude of a number one goalie is very important so you should not be too eager to swap just to get some imaginary benefits.
