Which is exactly why I am critical of Petunovich. He doesn't have the frame, the speed or the inclination to effectively carry out th puck. He is a pass-first defenseman who is easily knocked off the puck. I realize he is a fan favourite right now, but I am not buying it.
Perunovich has been very effective at carrying out the puck recently. It makes sense that a guy like him with physical disadvantages would take longer to figure out how to create advantages in the NHL. I think he only gets better under Montgomery.

He has made huge strides and is good enough at this point to be a 6/7d, which he frankly wasn't last year. And with POJ such an adventure and Kessel having regressed, that may actually justify keeping him in the lineup this year. I think that is where much of the enthusiasm lies. I don't think many of us want to see him stay in the top 4 or view him as part of the answer going forward.
the version of Perunovich for the last 10 games, I certainly do not mind him in the top 4, at all
he has averaged about 17.5 minutes and 21 shifts over that time and has been very good at moving the puck out of the d-zone, he has, by a lot, the lowest d-zone giveaways per minutes played among all the D
his on ice expected goals vs off ice expected goals is best among D, and only Parayko has a higher number blocks per minute played
his reads on holding the blue line or not have been very good, he has been jumping up in the play like you would expect out of an offensive d-man
he looks like a young player that realized he can play at this level, and now has the confidence to just play rather than overthinking everything
and, to my eyes anyway, Faulk looks better with him as a partner than anyone he has played with here except maybe Krug that one year

of course it is only 10 games, so we shall see

While I think Holloway will grow into his role, he's going to need some time to figure out what to do with the puck once he gets it. He's young so he's got time.

Unrelated note, Walker has been very impressive as of late. Very tenacious & he's do for a good bounce or 2.

I'm guessing Rempe isn't going to be suspended for his chickenshit actions? The main boards thread on him got locked, so I'm assuming he's getting off scot-free.

It pisses me of that a f***ing repeat offender who hits a player not even close to the puck with a gloved hand can get off so easily

Suspensions only happen if there is an injury. You should know this by now.

I think the main thread got closed because it was just fan bases sniping each other rather than discussing the play. However, I'm not surprised he's not suspended. It's one of those grey area plays where the league maybe only looks at it if the player is injured.

I'm not sure the play was malicious or if Rempe didn't see Jake until the last minute and just ran him over instead of laying off. But regardless he's a big, clumsy oaf who can hurt guys without even trying and he needs to realize that. When guys are playing out of their league talentwise, then it puts everyone on the ice at risk of being carelessly injured.

Love Walker and I'm very pleased he's upped his game enough to earn a regular spot in the lineup. The tenacity is great and the fact that he chips in offense semi-regularly is icing on the cake.
