Welcome to the Jungle
They have Geekie on the top line because he's been the most effective player there...

Geekie-Zacha-Pasta = 70.5 xG%
Johnson-Zacha-Pasta = 64.5 xG%

Marchand-Lindholm-Pasta = 60% xG%
Zacha-Lindholm-Pastrnak = 42.2 xG%

In addition. It seems to me that Geekie is very close to coming through. He needs to finish but I like the effort and the looks he’s been getting the last couple of games.

Geekie's also on the top line because Marchand seems to have better chemistry with Lindholm but Lindholm and Pasta do not seem to click. So in essence you have two pairs of top 6 players and then they are using complementary pieces to play with them. Brazeau for his net front and puck possession and Geekie maybe to make up for some of Pasta's defensive lapses. In any event, it's all about line chemistry and those lines have worked best so far.
I imagine that's why McLaughlin gets a shot too. Looking for that third guy to get Freddy and Coyle going. Those two are the biggest underachievers and we need a player to make that line click.
Fourth line is fine, with the caveat that Beecher shouldn't get too comfortable as he has trailed off a little from the early part of the year.

This is the first real test of the Sacco era. Vancouver plays well on the road so it should be a good tough game. Hopefully Swayman is getting his groove back.

Any idea how many minutes per grouping? The eye test matches closer to his actual scoring results, no? 5v5 or PP he is an anchor. A bottom 6 player.

Glad to see the fourth line back together. The gimmick of adding one of them to the top three lines was a laugher.
Montgomery’s desperation or a quicker exit so he could go where he has really wanted to coach for awhile.

You cannot keep running Geekie in top 6 .Bruins GM has major work to do

Indeed. But we have to wait and see if it's worth it. No question the top 6 is going to need some substantial boosting if the Bruins are going to be any sort of contenders in the spring. But can they prove by the deadline that it's worth giving up any more futures or other assets to do it?

Until then Sacco can only work with what he has and pray for the best.

It doesn't hurt me. I wish him the best but for the $ I would rather have Danton Heinen.

Jake is a good player...sometimes. I got tired of watching him sulk on the bench if he wasn't on the top line.

So please...Jake...do NOT have a good game tonight.

I think we all know he is going to be like DeBrusk in Edmonton tonight.

Make some kind of trade if they are serious about making playoffs. And this benching Johnson bothers me over Frederic who has absolutely sucked ass the entire year to date.

They have him there because the General Manager dropped the ball .

GZP: 56 minutes 5on5
MLB: 67 minutes 5on5

MLP: 54 minutes 5on5
ZLP: 72 minutes 5on5

My eye test is that the Geekie-Zacha-Pasta line has been good. They consistently outplay their matchup. They get glorious chances every game. Look at Detroit, Pasta was alone in front 3 or 4 times, Geekie had a great chance that didn't quite squeak thru the 5hole, and he also had a nice cross ice spin-pass to Zacha.

I feel like that line (and the 2nd line to a lesser extent) is really due to start scoring.

I do agree that they (Z&P) would be better with a more productive player and eventually, they will need to swap Geekie out with a higher end talent if they really want to make some noise, but short of trying Brazeau there, I don't see a better option on this team at the moment.
