Cut their time on ice

Cut their time on ice
mika probably hopes he ends up ltir’ed every dayMika is the type of person that would like that.
That's fair.
He did reduce Mika's ice tho & Mika whined.
Today Mika was on the 3rd line.
Can he scratch Mika and or Trouba? Maybe. I dunno. Is Drury & / or Dolan involved in that call?
What he can't do is MAKE them play better.
He's just a coach. The player is the ONLY one who can make them play better.

He put Kakko at center *shrugs*I agree with the bottom half of the post, but Mika was 2nd in 5v5 ice time among forwards today, certainly not 3rd line minutes.
He was getting reduced mins while Chytil was here and playing well, and it's not Mika or Lavi's fault we have no center depth, but with how ineffective Mika is Lavi does have other options to give some of those minutes to
Similar, maybe a bit worse?Better or worse than last game?
Better or worse than last game?
Replay is on tonight. Miss it if you canI missed this game but heard it was miserable. Last game felt like a decent effort.
all things being equal worse!Better or worse than last game?

When Lav first started and had them playing well really quick people here were saying "finally, a system!" LOL What changed?
After the match against NJ on Monday, they have a few days off. That's the time to implement a heavily conservative system and change the season's direction.
Since atleast AV they've been walking out the man on man defense, every coach did it. It's time for something different.
The coaches job is to build a system that accentuates the teams strengths. The opposite is happening now, our d aren't fleet of foot, they can't play man on man, go back to a zone d and a simple breakout and it fixes a ton of problems.
I wish we could get a list of all the people here demanding Torts exit, only to now be claiming he's the answer.honestly, most people dont know what they're watching. it was shiny new toy syndrome after hating Gallant for a year and a half.
I wish we could get a list of all the people here demanding Torts exit, only to now be claiming he's the answer.
Imo the coaching staff is the problem, how they can look at these games and not implement a change in strategy is beyond me. A bantam coach can look at our d and figure out they can't play man to man
The problem is that trouba, Lindgren, Miller can't play the man on man d, so they look terrible, I dont think they are near as bad as they look under a proper system. Gustafson, Mikkola, Johnson, etc all looked better somewhere else.I guess my point is, that you can grab a coach who wants a zone D or a 2-1-2 forecheck or whatever. That isn't going to make Trouba not braindead & play better. It won't make Z hit open nets & play better. It won't make Lindgren complete a pass & play better.
Again, it's the same damn team that has ripped through 3 coaches in 5 yrs.
It's over for this core & until a BIG move(s) made, you can fire Lavi & bring in whoever & I GUARANTEE you'll get the same thing, with maybe better effort for a yr.
That's not a solution. That's a bandaid
One that requires they use their feet less yes. Make the other team come to them instead of chasing guys all over the ice. What baffles me is that our defenseman play a lot better when they are on the pk, when they are playing more zone defense they look fine, yet when the pk ends they start running around again. You believe there's a system that would make Trouba and Lindgren NHL-level players?
Most of them are on the ice psychologically broken right now. Making simple plays as hard as climbing Everest. Unsure who should get a loose puck just staring at each other.I don’t think Lavi is doing well, but I think there are very few coaches in the NHL that truly make a difference; the game is too random in terms of bounces and not being able to predict possession, etc. The players exclusively control the outcome more than in other sports. That said, it isn’t the coach. This group has had slow, flat, heartless starts under 3 straight coaches in 4 years. A fourth coach is going to somehow fix that? The players are gutless and have no intrinsic self motivation. It’s on the players and the organizational culture. The coach could be better, but at this point I’m not even sure how much autonomy the coach has in this organization because it seems like their is an imperative to let the pampered big contract club call the shots. These players do not hold themselves or one another the least bit accountable. It’s a horribly rotten room and we need to turn over 50% of the roster to even start fixing it.
