In the first year of their contract, mainly. Most of the veterans that Nill went after managed to at least survive their first year without getting yeeted into the pressbox consistently. Maybe Dumba still has a lingering injury. We thinking like, Hanzal level of whiff?
This is worse because I doubt Dumba is put on LTIR. Its gonna cost an extra pick - on top of what a good D man will cost - to send him back the other way.

With the 6 D playing tonight, B Smith, and Bischel - he’s probably 9th on the depth chart so zero chance he sees the ice in the playoffs unlss half the team gets Covid. The one good thing is that he’s being scratched. I cant believe he was thought of as potential top pairing guy

With Petro being callup and the poor play of Dumba and Smith I can't help thinking we could see a trade. Probably no rush though since Nill would probably have to give up a draft pick to get Dumba off the roster. Assuming Dumba sits the majority of the remaining games I could see him being a buyout candidate when the season ends assuming he's still on the team.
