The difference was very minimal. There was no clearly about it. Just speculation from those calling it over the line and those calling it behind the line.
Did you see white? No, no goal, yes, a goal. I didn’t see white and there were plenty of angles….yea it was half an inch max, but that makes a difference according to the rules and we’d be praising the challenge if we were on the other side of it

The team needs more pucks at the net. This Edmonton goalie is terrible and I would expect the second period to be much more consistent with pucks at the net.

Are you asking if I saw white on the initial play or the review? Because the argument from somebody else were the angles used, not whether or not it was really offside or not. Don't act like you saw no white on the initial play that was "clearly" not over the line.

I'm not getting into the rule itself. The rule is the rule.

I’ve never seen anything like that offside no goal. Just absolutely horrible for the league completely absurd to take goals away by what a half an inch for a game of this speed. Just absolute nonsense

And then we don’t even get the angle that shows it was actually offside. Just criminal
I'm watching the Sportsnet feed, and they showed the angle that made it clear it was offside. You can say the rule is absurd and needs to be changed, but the call was correct given how the rule is currently written.

It was offside. The blue line is completely part of the zone the puck is in. Bread never crossed the puck into the offensive zone so therefore it was still part of the neutral zone and Vinny was about 6 feet into the zone by the time the puck crossed. It was really a pretty easy call that the linesman botched.

Dominated them in the 1st, probably in the 2nd too. Most of the 3rd? We will dominate. None of that will have anything to do with the final score.
We need to bury this team.

I thought they said not to challenge plays that are that close. A quarter of an inch and had no bearing on the play

I don't know how Mika isn't the main issue/whipping boy right now

People are chompin at the bit for Kreider and Panarin.

Zibs has been the worst of the bunch.

HE HAS SCORED AN EVEN STRENGTH GOAL IN ONLY ONE GAME. ONE GAME. THAT IS ABSURD.

Going into the game he led the team in scoring.

Also, the stats say he has two even strength goals, 1 SH goal, and is second on the team in GWG. 2nd on the team in CF% among forwards and leads the team in goals.

He's not an issue. At all.

On the reviews. MSG is shit with replays but I’m watching Sportsnet and they showed some good ones. There were sufficient and decent angles to see white or not from their feed, maybe that’s the confusion here.

he's our goal scoring 1C. He's not scoring goals at even strength and deferring continuously.

Those even strength goals are from 1 game. hence 1 game

You're conflating PP success with the issue. you can twist all the stats and metrics you want. He has not been scoring goals at 5v5.. We need him to score goals at 5v5 We do not need him to be Panarin.

If you feel it can dramatically alter momentum and you have a solid view backing up your challenge then def go with it like Edmonton did. Apparently MSG didn’t show any solid angles, they’ve been crap with replays recently (like the Kakko ‘post’ that was actually a miraculous desperation glove save by Gibson’)

Dude get over it- the play was offside by 5 feet. It’s really not even a tough call aside from the fact the linesman was in the other side of the ice and it’s so close to going in but realistically if he was on the close side it’s whistled down immediately.

No, I'm not conflating anything. He's not our "goal scoring 1C". He's our 1C and playing exactly that way. Leading the team in scoring and goals. 2nd in CF% among forwards. 12 EV/SH points in 21 games. There isn't a team in the f***ing league that wouldn't drool all over themselves to have him on the roster.

No one said that. The fans want the rule to be re-written to reflect this, but the NHL realizes that any change to the rule in such a manner, makes things subjective.

the league. I should have saved it because I'm too lazy to look for it
You mean a memo the league sent that refs shouldn’t overturn? Coaches can challenge whatever they want even if 50 feet incorrect, the onus is on the refs to overturn or uphold….

Is a quarter inch the threshold? What about half an inch? Way too subjective

No, there was a rumor that coaches were told they aren't going to win the too-close/borderline calls and will lose their time-out so they shouldn't slow the game. They didn't say they will lose the black and white calls. It was a rumor nonetheless.
