Forward and All Around AWESOME dude JEFF CARTER said:
(On the significance of the victory) ... “It was a big game for us. I think the last game in Vancouver there we didn’t have our best effort. We came out, and I don’t think we started the game particularly well, but we stuck with it and played some pretty good hockey in the third period.” (On Nashville’s ability to “bottle up” the Kings through two periods) ... “They do a good job of blocking. We probably would have had a lot more if we got pucks past their D and to the net. To our credit, we didn’t get frustrated. We stuck with it. It’s pretty easy against them to get frustrated when they’re stepping in front of everything and we’re not getting much to the net.” (On the difference in the third period) ... “We had a little more speed to our game. We were getting on pucks in their end and playing physical, and it was opening up holes for us.” (On what led to his breakaway goal) ...
“I was just kind of playing in the middle there and was able to get a stick on it. I kind of [took] a good guess on which way he was going and that was another lucky one because Weber got my arm there before I shot it.” (On what the hat trick means to him personally) ... “It’s nice. It’s always fun. Some big goals for the team gave us a little bit of a cushion there. It’s good.” (On his acclimation) ... “I’m comfortable here now. It’s great. I feel like I’m in a good position. I have a great team and [want to] keep it going.” (On resuming his scoring) ... “That’s what I’m here for, I guess, is to put the puck in the net. I think I’ve just kind of settled down. You say with injuries and trades, you just feel like everything’s kind of in place now, and it’s going good.” (On getting pucks and bodies to the net) ... “Yeah, it’s something we talked about. I don’t know if it really happened until the third period, but we had what, six shots after the two or something like that? So it took a little while to get it going, but we showed when we actually do it, good things happen. We did a good job of just kind of wearing them down throughout the first 40.” (On what has improved in Slava Voynov’s game) ... “A lot more confidence, for sure. He’s obviously been great all year. You can see the confidence that he got from playing in the minors there during the lockout. Just skating the puck, making plays, holding on to the puck, looking guys off. It’s pretty good.” (On the power play’s general improvement this season) ... “We switched things up a little bit and just kind of went back to just lines. But we’ve worked on it a lot. Kopi’s line really moves it around well. They’ve had a couple nice ones there in the last couple of games. We’ve just got to keep at it. It doesn’t matter if its mice or a greasy one. They all count.” (On his first goal being a “greasy” goal) ... “Yeah, that was real ugly. I was trying to pass it backdoor there. That’s probably why I’ve got two assists all year."
Forward & Alt. Captain ANZE KOPITAR said:
(On whether the Kings are developing a reputation of being difficult to play against at home) ... “I think so, yeah. I think just in general we’ve been to known to be more difficult to play against. I think the big thing is obviously to establish your identity at home, and I think we’ve done a pretty good job of that. Now teams are hopefully a little more intimidated coming into Staples Center than they were before.” (On playing back-to-back games at home) ... “I think…coaches have done a pretty good job of giving us the option of skating [or] not skating, getting ready. We all know it’s on us to get ready. Guys are doing whatever they think is the best for them. It’s just preparation, just like any other game. It doesn’t matter if it’s a road or home game.” (On what he liked from the road win in St. Louis) ... “Well, we just came off a loss in Detroit that was maybe, I guess, I bit unfair because we outplayed them and we didn’t get the result that we wanted, so I thought we showed a good character of coming right back and beating a good team on the road. I’m sure they want to beat us tonight, just like we beat them at home. We’ve got to be ready. It’s going to be a physical, physical game. They have lots of big bodies, and we’ve got to be prepared for that.” (On whether last night’s game was a good example of everybody “being on the same page”) ... “Yeah, I think so. Going into the game you know it’s not going to be a high scoring affair. It is what it is. We stuck with it. That’s pretty much the whole point of that. We weren’t bad in the first period, but we didn’t have a whole lot going. They didn’t either…They block tons of shots, too. It’s tough to get the puck to the net nowadays. It really is. But I think just the big thing is to stay with it like we did tonight. We had a strong third period, and now we’re going to try and get her going."
Goaltender JONATAHAN BERNIER said:
(On his career success against Nashville) ... “Yeah, I’ve been successful against them, that’s for sure. But when you give up 20 shots or something like that, you’ve got to make sure you make those big saves and keep the team in it. We found a way to score that one, and kept going from thereafter.” (On staying mentally sharp with so few shots against) ... “I’m just trying to stay focused, and obviously when you don’t get too many shots you’re just hoping you’re not going to get a breakaway right away. But we did an awesome job – our F3 was really high tonight, and we actually created a lot of offense with that.” (Generally speaking, on whether having good stats against a particular team is more than a coincidence) ... “I think it’s obviously as a goalie, it’s all about confidence, and I guess I’m pretty confident when I play against Nashville. It’s been that way.” (On Jeff Carter) ... “He’s been unbelievable for us scoring some big goals. We need a guy like that that takes over, and he’s doing it right now.” (On how quickly the cadence of the game changed) ... “It was 5-1 like [that]. Our F3, like I said earlier, was really, really good, and that’s how we create a lot of chances like that. We got our chances and we buried. That’s the game, I guess."
Head coach DARRYL SUTTER said:
(On the difference between tonight’s game and the other two games against Nashville) ... “Not much difference, actually. Two games prior, we scored a power play goal as the only goal we scored. Tonight we scored two. Last game in here we lost 2-1 in a shootout…Not much different.” (On Jeff Carter’s hot streak) ... “He was hot tonight. He struggled – hey, I’m sure he’d tell you he struggled the last two games. If you traveled with us, you would say that he wasn’t necessarily hot. He’ll tell you that. You get back to work tonight, he was rewarded with his skill set. He gets rewarded. It’s not like it was magic or something. He did a great job on his shots. He did a great job of stripping a puck and scoring on a breakaway.” (On Carter stripping the puck and scoring on a breakaway) ... “Well, we ask our F1…he’s got to be the guy that kind of dictates stuff for us, if he is that guy that’s on the front part of it. It’s not very often you can force a turnover like that, but the rest of the other four guys on the ice know what direction it’s going to go. His skill set allowed him to do it – quick hands, good feet. If he doesn’t score, he gets a penalty shot. So then you would’ve been asking ‘How come he didn’t score on the penalty shot?’…He could’ve had another one, actually. Should’ve had the fourth.” (On his encouragement over the development of Slava Voynov) ... “He’s played a lot of minutes for a kid. It’s not ‘encouraging’ or ‘discouraging’ when Slava has a rough night or a good night. He’s a good player.” (On whether a late offensive outburst can carry over to the following night) ... “That could be possible. I guess we’ll find out. I don’t really know.” (On the team’s “slow start”) ... “It wasn’t a slow start. We were doing exactly what we wanted to do. [Nashville is a] tough team to play against. It’s just exactly what you asked the last time we played Nashville. Were you here the last time we played Nashville in this building? Remember? How many shots did they have?…What was the score? Great goalie at that end, missed the net by that much…It has nothing to do with a slow start. I thought we had an awesome start, actually.” (On Alec Martinez) ... “He was in and out, up and down, side to side. Got to get him to be an effective young player. I‘ll evaluate and make a decision on our lineup tomorrow again."

NOTE : Regarding LARGE SIZE IMAGES / YELLOW RE-SIZE IMAGE BARS ABOVE PICS, let me offer up one nice little suggestion ...
This will get rid of those pesky yellow resize bars over the top of some larger pictures ... as they annoy the hell out of me and maybe they do you also ?
- Go into/click on your "USER CP" {control Panel} up top left in the red bars
- on the left under 'Settings & Options' click on "Edit Options"
- scroll down to 'Thread Display Options', and then 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- click on the 'Drop Down List Box' over on the Right of 'Please Select the Resize Mode'
- select it to "KEEP ORIGINAL SIZE"
- SAVE your selections !
There ... now don't that look MUCH BETTER

No kidding.

Think bernier would give us a better chance to win so I was just thinking he'd play today too.

What do people not understand about 17 games in one month.

That can kill teams with fatigue, you have to play Quick regardless.

You better hope to god Quick starts to play well, cause regardless Sutter has to use him.

San Jose played 15 games in one month last year, and it killed that team....The next month, San Jose was awful.

The Kings last year didn't look too great after playing 15 games in a month ether.

2nd night of a B2B for us, and the Blues have been having issues lately, only beating weak teams like Edmonton and Columbus. Considering the Kings likelihood of being a bit worn down in the 2nd half of the game, they need to get a fast start tonight. For that reason I'm not liking the Kings chances much - fast starts have not been their forte.

Here's to me being proven wrong.

Lol you're being so over dramatic, I want him to play this game so we can get a more secure position, don't get your panties in a bunch man, I said this game not the whole month. Keep calm and breathe.

Another win in regulation would be huge. The Kings can start to separate themselves from the scrum a bit if they win tonight.

This is going to be a very physical game.

If they're worn down after playing a team that pretty much slept walk through the first 2 periods, and straight up quit in the 3rd, then they have bigger issues.

Take a look at the minute distribution, other than Scuderi and Voynov, nobody played huge minutes.

This one's for MN14

jean-luc-picard__MAKE-IT-CROW.jpg

Ahh, beat me to the requests. you know me too well  Good stuff!

Blues will be hungry tonight...gonna be a closer game than last night for sure. Looking forward to a physical affair. Yay for big Dmen!

And seems like Bernier is back in? Nice. Let him roll for a bit while Quick works out the kinks!

@JimFox19: #LAKings extra skate at mskate 15-44-32.

There you have it. Quick skated with the healthy scratches, I don't know if he's hurt or Sutter is gaining confidence in Bernier but it seems like JB is the man tonight

He got the start. Hah. Glad he made the right choice, stupid to take off a hot goalie when we are tight in a race.

Probably just a case of Bernier is playing better right now and gives us the best chance to win.

Honestly, I was hoping that Quick would step in this game and reestablish himself as our #1 guy this game. I don't know if it's the best move to let Bernier play two games in a row, even if he is playing extremely well right now. Quick needs to get his game back.

However, with the Blues' PP being the 2nd best in the league, it might be better to have the hotter goalie in net.

Bernier seems to be the kind of goalie that plays better when more minutes are thrown at him.

As does Quick ... as does ANY Goalie ...

like others have been saying you can't ride either goalie into the ground though, and we've got a boat load of games upcoming, so we NEED for BOTH goalies to be on their game ... I hope sitting Quick out doesn't mess with his mind / confidence ... you just commited 10 years and MILLIONS of dollars to Quick, and rightfully so, and now you want to make him the scape goat for one bad game where the D and total team effort in front of him was for crap ... I dunno about this move, Quick historically has VERY STRONG bounce back games after such losses, so making him sit longer might not be the best thing to do ? :shakehead We'll see I guess.

I'm kinda bummed to see that midget Andy McDonald is going to sit this one out. He's usually good for a -2 with zero shots on goal vs L.A. So overrated by Blues fans.
