I know everyone was whining like babies when the league had their schedule heavily skewed towards divisional matchups back in the late 2000's, but I must say that that I would prefer that over what we have now.

I think with 32 teams, and the mandate to play every team at least twice, it's gotten to the point that the divisional matchups have become too few and far between.

There's just too many games now where I don't feel that emotional connection. This whole California trip, I have not been able to tune in, and frankly, it hasn't bothered me either.

I am hoping Caufield's goal yesterday is the opening of the flood gates. Rightfully or not, I am still nursing a hope Habs can make da playoffs. I am tired of the rebuild hockey. It's no fun. I want games to be meaningful.

I admire your optimism but prepare to be crushed.

Copley will be starting for the Kings today as Talbot played yesterday against the Ducks. Copley's numbers this year are the let's just say not great 3.75 GAA and a .845 SV%
But the Kings have been playing really well defensively in their last few games...

I expect this game to be brutal for the Habbies, it won't be that "easy" tonight compared to facing the Sharkies.

I don't know... I don't think could stomach to be part of the leafs blowfest 8 times a season. It's too much. I think there is little left of any rivalries out there anyway... Habs Leafs or Bruins games aren't what they used to be. It's not only because how often they play. It's mostly because there is little inherit hatred between players. Half of them are probably buds off the ice. I don't know.

I dunno, thoroughly enjoyed the game against Boston a couple weeks back. It was a festive atmosphere, and there was a different feeling for it.

I'm not advocating 8 matchups though.... I don't even know how that would be feasible with the number of teams now. But I am advocating for more than three.

We need more of the inter division and conference games.................curious the league would look at the MLB style format.....play most of the games in the conference, and a few different teams on the other side, rotating every year.....

There is nothing like a game vs Boston or the Leafs.................speaking of the leafs we had em opening night and not again until March...............sad

It really does appear as hockey has lost a lot of intensity. Very bland and tame,it could pick up though as time goes on. See so few big hits at all, hitting has gone way down looking at box scores.

You would rather be back to a bubble team for the next decade to play “meaningful” games now, rather than a little more patience to have a team that could compete and play actual meaningful games?

personally I would rather stick to the plan, be a little more patient and have a chance to actually win for a prolonged period.

Agreed, but the patience thing, is mighty hard right now............but we do need a little more patience for sure............they are going, in the right direction.

HuGo says sustainable winning team is the goal...

On pace for 40 pts, all the while collecting 8.5M
Interesting eh.........
Thank God those rumors didn't pan out.

Patience is hard but when you see several young players starting to show promise not only in Montreal but in Laval, in Juniors, in the NCAA and in Europe it is easier to continue supporting the rebuild.
