How do you want a team to learn how to pick themselves up when they're drowning, if they get to live another day?

The sane way every athlete does. For all the war analogies, literally every team "lives another day" no matter the performance.

I am for learning the hard way, but for there to be a hard way, there's gotta be, at the very least, a consequence for getting destroyed, at home at that. If you don't have that, there is no way a group of guys just develop that self correcting and growth mindset.

What "consequence" do you suggest?

It appears they have good accountability based on how theyve responded to bad periods this season. The overall compete level has not been our issue.
