feels like Lekhonen with a better shot
When are people going to realize = the NHL is is a parity league?. You have 32 teams who can spend to the cap max. If they do, they have a good chance to make playoffs.. this is the MB steategy. Just plain stupid luck hoping for the best.

Each year, only 1 or 2 clubs actually build a SC contender. The rest are just playing on a chip and and a chair.

There is no secret formula.

Option 1: who cares about draft picks, a la Vegas or MB.. who cares about farm club? All in, at any cost.. so long as they pay the piper.

Option 2: build a business. A farm club that produces assets not just for your main club, but trade allocation and a tradition of winning, which helps the main club for depth. This is how SC contenders are built.

So pick your poison.. Laval to be chalked full of joyrneymen AHLers and prospects who "might" learn a thing or two.. or..
Laval to be filled with NHL prospects that can contribute to the main club, and traded for needed value? .

That is all..

Sadly, the tough direction (employed by Hugo) is much more difficult, yet far more successful. Versus the nimwit version employed by MB yet still exciting (tgere's a chance).

Which camp are you in?

Hail mary's or strategic business acumen?
