Technically they are right he assisted on goals for both teams
Yeah, I'd like to know which team D stats led to this, but he and Lily both have huge team defense bars, so clearly something is driving that. I didn't see him being atrocious, but I didn't remember him standing out on D except for the last goal.

The nice thing about watching this team is we don't have Labanc/Hoffman/Zadina guys just floating around. Dellandrea, Kostin, Grundstrom, etc. all keep the forecheck going when they don't have the puck.

Just makes the team look more alive.
Ive been really really impressed with Grundstrom. He plays the game extremely hard. Like you said, the difference between his game and a Labanc/Zadina is pretty big. May not show up on the scoresheet often but it definitely makes this a much harder team to play against than last year.

Bill Bergen once went 3-4 with 3 RBI. He still finished his career with a .170 batting average.
lol. The weird hatred runs so deep for some of you that you’d probably rather cut off a limb than acknowledge whenever Ferraro has a good game.

Yeah, that's what I'd like to know about these cards--what goes into team offense and team defense?

Individual offense is easier to figure out--goals and assists certainly help--but I guess individual D is also a question for me. These do sometimes match the eye test, but what are we working off of otherwise? Shot/possession metrics?

It's been too long. Let's be buyer! Trade draft picks for veteran help. Draft picks are a crapshoot anyway.
I would agree with this when Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, drafted/acquired 1D, Dickinson and Askarov have hit their potential.

I see more numbers there but still no explanation for how Dom puts together the pieces to the algorithm. (Like, what goes into the miscellaneous offensive impact category? What goes into defensive impact?) Am I missing that somewhere?
Couldn’t tell you for sure but usually the cards are fairly accurate to unbiased eye test. When the aforementioned Ferraro has one of those real bad games it’s usually reflected near the bottom of the card.

Yeah, I tend to agree, I'm just someone who likes explanations for how analytics work so we can try to make sense of them without just going along blindly, you know?

It's actually one of the things that I feel has been lacking in important ways with hockey analytics versus other sports. Like with baseball, I'm no math guy, but I read Fangraphs enough over the years that eventually all the metrics used made sense. With hockey analytics, it's often felt like people presenting numbers and just being like, "Here you go," and leaving it at that.

It is hatred to point out that a player on my favorite team has performed poorly all year

One game with favorable on-ice metrics while playing against an opponent with a bottom-5 record while paired with the 2nd best D on the team erases all of his prior errors, to imply otherwise is bullying

Yeah, at no point was that ever what I was implying, and I think you know that.
